2020 Is a big year for The True London Project. We have decided to move to a new map. Our aim is to build London. The WHOLE of London. All 50km Squared of it.
Using a better version of LIDAR, this has different color buildings, roads marked clearly and water present. A much better map. It will stretch from Heathrow to Dartford. And include everything within the M25 Motorway.
There have been many.
I have seen far and wide lots of Minecraft London projects, even been a part of some myself. However they never really come close to "completion" and always seem to make realism sacrifices, and get the scaling and orientation wrong. This is where I hope to differ, and to help me create the most accurate city possible, I've used a technique not seen before in any other London project:
LIDAR.
LIDAR (or light detection and ranging) Is where a satellite scans a part of the earth using lasers which bounce back onto sensors, the result is a Height-map accurate to 1m. so a LIDAR scan was taken from London, Converted to a Height-map, then converted to a Minecraft map (Using WorldPainter) and then uploaded to a server.
This IS an active project and has BIG ambitions including:

WORKING BUS NETWORK: Real bus routes using custom 3D models that actually drive round London!
WORKING TUBE NETWORK: Majorty of the Underground, Overground and crossrail Networks.They will be built with working moving railway stock.
WORKING NATIONAL RAIL NETWORK: All of the rail lines within greater london. This includes every terminus, depot and more.
AUDIOSERVER: Real ambient audio recorded from London, and specific recordings like Big Ben Chiming, Trains across bridges, Buses, Cars and more.

Its been a long time, with a lot changing since the last post. We have move IPs once more, to whats now hoped will be a more Permanent home. We have continued to build and a lot of Westminster, Waterloo and Lambert are nearly finished. Hello, I find your project very interesting, I love London, it is my favorite city. I have long thought about reproducing London in minecraft, however I do not have enough manpower, that's why I would like to participate in your project, to reproduce this magnificent city! I have a lot of skills in building in minecraft, I can do modern like ghotic or amblematic Victorian architecture of some monuments in London, if you want to see some of my constructions do not hesitate to answer me or leave me your email address on Discord (I joined your server as SteaFew # 9769). I know London well, I have been there many times even though I live in France, I speak English very well. I know its metro and its 11 lines fairly well. Waiting for an answer.
(also, do you accept cracked versions of minecraft on your server?).
