Universal Class Hull-Small

This small bodied ship carries a relatively small displacement and is of small length. Better suited for coastal operations, this hull would be best used on ships that would only be in deeper waters for limited periods of time. In an effort to increase stability during deeper water operations, the hull was given large bulges on the sides. These bulges serve a second purpose during times of war, they are capable of protecting the ship from strikes caused by torpedoes. Many types of ships can be based upon this hull, including coastal patrol vessels, torpedo boats, search-and-rescue ships as well as troopships.
