In the early decades of the 22nd century, Earth had begun seeing more and more activity from their extra-terrestrial neighbors.
After a devastating terrorist attack on the then-capital city of the NRU, Las Vegas, at the hands of a Martian organization known as "Endwall", the NRU's military budget shifted dramatically to churning out sturdy, yet easy to produce space-fairing vessels. And, after much trial and error, the 'Vulcan' class of destroyers were the top choice, and is now the most widely-used ship in the NRU Galactic Armada as of 2140.
