Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

good motives, but idealism is unhelpful. being defenseless would ruin us.

But that's from a perspective of the world how it is now. How will we ever get there without idealism. If my fate is to be killed in a war that a politician or extremist started then so be it.

excuse me for being realistic, but utopia is impossible. and even if it was possible, idealism would be the worst way to reach it. the only way to improve society is to view the world as it is and build on what we have. we can't just tear down what we've worked so hard on.

I do view the world as it is and I didn't mention tearing anything down! The quote I posted was from the comedian Bill Hicks. He's dead now so unfortunately you can't argue with him and neither can I so I stand by my post. Good day to you Sir.
