This is a 1:2 scaled model of a town in Iowa called Winterset. It has a nice town square and some historic monuments surrounded by some nice rivers and natural parks so I figured I'd start to make the whole town.

You can see the Madison County courthouse building in the center. The town is just getting started with the north and east side of the square being completed, as well as the northeast and southeast corners having a lot of work done.

There are sewers underground which don't really exist (on this scale) but since it's underground, I figured it would be ok to have that be inaccurate for playabilities' sake.

Major update #1(8/8/2017-10:30am):

I have completed putting buildings that face towards the courthouse, all the way around, so when you walk around the courthouse block, you feel like you are in the real town already! Now I just need to put in about 20%more of the buildings in and around the center to complete the first 9 center downtown blocks. I will probably finish this by 8/9 if I stay on schedule.

I am considering this 10% of the entire town of Winterset now completed.

Major update #2(8/9/2017-6:30am):

Finished the southern strip of the square, including the city hall building. I also created a total of 25 city blocks with the southern part having a downward slope. All the very slight terraforming and adjustments was very time consuming but in the end it looks GREAT and quite realistic.

Also did some random details all around the city including some stop signs, signs on shops explaining what it is in real life and sometimes including the real street address, street lamps, garbages and other details in the back alleys as well as added a loading truck to the Fareway store with a truckload of goods to be unloaded into the stores' receiving area in the back.

I am considering this 15% of the project completed.

Major update #3(8/14/2017 2:03am):

After two days of painstaking effort to recover a corrupted save file, I was able to recover the map but lost the play data including the hours, which was at least 2.5 days last time I checked. So that was unfortunate, and I now have no proof that I made this entire thing in a certain amount of time, but at least I still have about 50+ screenshots from when it was a blank grassy field to now, so that's something.

I have completely finished the town square as it is on Google maps, which is the center 9 blocks of the town. I will be now working to create the road network of the entire town with empty plots, and fill in with the remaining industrial and commercial and historical landmarks, and a few houses that I can build from memory since I've been in about 10 houses around the town that I can probably build from memory.

More to come! I consider this project at about the 25% mark of completion.
