The airship features:

   Bridge controls
      Cruise forward
      Rotate in either direction
      Ascend / Descend
Fuel consumption, stops when it runs out
Collision detection so the ship is stopped before it hits something
A water ladder to allow easy access to the ground
An area where the users can store goods and blocks that will be preserved through rotation

The world included in the download has several works in it made by other people:
Rebuilt Royal Navy Shipyards - highly modifed from QbicGaming's "Old harbor spawn"
Verace - parts from Rigolo's Imperial City - 33% done
Fogholt - from Coastal Town by Asera

It's still a work in progress, but here are some locations you can explore with the airship:
Verace - Silver Empire city, largest city so far, home of the Crassus Aircraft Works - 4300, 100, 2600
   South Haven - Pirate town, home of Bellamy's group - 8100, 100, 5600
Royal Navy Shipyards at Emerald Bay - 2900, 100, 6500
   Fogholt - Where Fentan's kid was - 5500, 100, 7600
   Renora - Kingdom city that was bombed in episode 13 - 7500, 100, 6900

If there is much interest in this system, I could make a much smaller airship that would have much less lag and be easier to control. Or some other kind of ship. Maybe an armed warship, maybe a submarine or sailing ship. I'm open to suggestions.

Wait, just found it nvm.
Bacca/Lorax, it would be amazing if you could make an armed one of these. Just fire guns would do fine. thanks a ton.

P.S: could you whitelist me on your creative server? I am a youtube subscriber and a huge fan of everything you do. My minecraft username is Joebobleebob. Thanks again.

I added you, although its best to ask on the youtube pages somewhere.

It's funny you should mention that. I'm actually working on an armed merchantman right now for the survival server. It's pretty nasty :)

airship's engines are either stored in a very small undercarriage or stored in the propultion pod itsself.

Hey, I've seen your work, I like it! Diamonded all your airships.

It's nice to see an attempt at authenticity in airship designs. The "Fantasy style" is ok, but I like to see something that might actually fly from time to time. Mind you, all my designs don't have anywhere near enough volume, but I'm running on the assumption the minecraft world has a much denser atmosphere than ours. At least, thats my excuse :)

In this case, the engines are within the envelope, at the back of the ship. There is a small exhaust port (the redstone block) at the very tail of the ship. I have other designs with proper engine pods, like this one:

thanks, I try to build the most historical and/or the most interesting dirigibles, I prefer to do semi-rigids. Nice to know someone else that builds non-fantasy zeppelins.

Can you make more of these for underwater travel? I know it's a lot to ask for, but please?

I suppose I could add it to my list. This next week I'll be working on the next episode of Minecraft Airship Pirates, but I could probably work on a sub after that. The only tricky bit would be when it surfaces, getting the air to fill in around it. I'll have to think about how to make that happen.

can you make an mcedit schematic for this? or will it only work with the world save (command block database)?

I've considered making a schematic that could be put into any world. In order to work it would have to be pasted to precise coordinates (maybe 0,0) and your server spawn would have to be changed to those coordinates. The other alternative would be giving detailed instructions on how to change where it copies the rotations from. That might work, if a user is competant enough to make the changes.

If there is enough interest in the project I could do either one.
Wow! its epic! Great job! :D

Nice work! I knew someone would finally do this. I thought of it when the /setblock command came out, but it would have been really hard to accomplish. I never got around to doing it though, even when the /clone command came out. First to give a Diamond!

Thanks! Yeah, the clone command is certainly the heart of it, although it turns out it's remarkably difficulty to actually get a redstone circuit to work reliably through the clone process. But after a lot of trial and error I eventually figured out what you can do and what you can't do. In short, use hopper clocks instead of other types, don't put your circuit pathways in such a way that they overlap in the plane of motion, and don't put "powerable" (IE: solid) blocks near your circuitry.
