Alexander Lukashenko was born on August 30, 1954 in the urban-type settlement of Kopys, located in the Vitebsk region of Belarus. The future president was brought up only by his mother Ekaterina Trofimovna, who worked as a milkmaid on a farm.

His parents did not live together. There is almost no information about Lukashenko's father, it is only known that he was a forester. By nationality, Lukashenko is Belarusian, but his grandfather Trofim Ivanovich was from Ukraine, from the Sumy region.

The childhood of the future president was spent in the village of Alexandria in the center of the Dneprovsky collective farm, where he attended secondary school together with rural children.



After graduating from school, the guy entered the Mogilev Pedagogical Institute at the Faculty of History. In 1975, Lukashenko was assigned to the city of Shklov, where he took the post of secretary of the Komsomol committee at secondary school No. 1.

After working there for several months, Alexander went to serve in the army. According to the distribution, the young man ended up in the border troops of the KGB.

After the army, he continued his work as secretary of the Komsomol committee in the Mogilev city food market. In 1979, Lukashenko received membership in the CPSU, and in 1980 he went to serve in the army for the second time, in which for the next two years he commanded a tank company for political affairs. Now the President of Belarus has the military rank of lieutenant colonel.



Lukashenko got into politics thanks to his achievements on the Gorodets collective farm. His efforts and merits were duly appreciated by the top leadership of the USSR, the man was invited to Moscow, where he became a People's Deputy of the Byelorussian SSR. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the homeland of the politician became a sovereign state, which allowed him to rapidly rise through the vertical of power and build a dizzying political career.

Having created a reputation as a defender of the people and a fighter against corrupt authorities, the politician won the trust of the electorate. Despite the intrigues, he was able to break through to power. Lukashenko's revealing activities allowed him to become the most popular politician of that time, surrounded by a large number of associates.

After the beginning of the implementation of the plans of the man, many members of the team left him, going into opposition. For some, the departure from Lukashenko was the finale of the political biography, since only a few people who did not support the future Belarusian head of the people were able to stay in the upper echelons of power.

The election program of Alexander Lukashenko was based on the position of saving the economy, which was on the verge of collapse. The people supported his candidacy in the presidential elections of 1994, as a result of which Lukashenko became the first president of the independent Republic of Belarus, gaining more than 80% of the vote.



The results of the 2020 elections were not unexpected: according to official data from the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lukashenko won 80.08% of the vote. The second position was taken by the name of Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya, the main opposition competitor. She managed to enlist the support of 10.09% of voters. These figures caused distrust among many voters: a serious wave of protests swept the country, and all candidates who participated in the elections filed complaints with the CEC.

Protesters who decided to express no confidence in the results of the vote were detained by representatives of law enforcement agencies. There was information about many incidents of particularly cruel treatment of detainees, as well as to peaceful passers-by. Contrary to the expectations of the authorities, this only spurred a wave of discontent: demonstrations and rallies did not end, more and more people took to the streets.

The appearance of Lukashenko with a machine gun in his hands deserves special mention: with a weapon and in a bulletproof vest, the president decided to fly around Minsk in a helicopter in order to see with his own eyes the number of protesters. Son Nicholas, who accompanied his father, was also armed.

The dissatisfaction of the citizens forced the president to look at the situation from a new point of view.

Lukashenko also noted that he was ready to discuss amendments to the country's constitution, after which he did not rule out the early holding of new elections. At the same time, he stressed that he did not intend to leave just like that and was ready to defend his country to the end. According to Alexander Grigoryevich, the influence of the United States on what is happening cannot be ruled out.

Protest actions on the streets of Belarus, meanwhile, did not stop. On September 23, it became known that Alexander Lukashenko had secretly taken office as president. The inauguration ceremony took place behind closed doors, the date of its holding was not announced in advance.
