Chameleon is a character that so far has only appeared in the original timeline of the Mortal Kombat franchise. He is a reptilian humanoid fighter who can copy other fighters moves. It was originally theorized that Chameleon is the same species as Reptile (a raptor from the planet Zaterra). However, the creators of Mortal Kombat: Ed Boon and John Tobias, confirmed that this is not the case. Additionally, a female counterpart named Khameleon appears in the Wii version of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (However, unlike her male counterpart, she is the same species as Reptile).
