Gene always wanted to follow in the footsteps of that girl in the game (save for the girl part of course). Her life was a massive trip downhill, like his, yet she became a bounty hunter that fought space jellyfish and and saved the Galaxy.

That was 60 years ago. His life as a human was still a black hole dragging him downward, with the human civilization facing poverty, embarassment to other species, alien plagues, and intense crime. So, he decided to become an Elysian: a proud subspecies of human with genes from other species spliced with theirs and the highest mechanical technology integrated into them.

The Elysian Union is the galactic superpower the Elysians have created, using a heavily modified communism system, in which every person must do they're required work hours to be able to indulge (for free) all of the premium conveniences of the country.

Joining the Elysian Union was a bad idea however. Sure the calories the food stored could hold him for weeks and the need to eat everyday was absent, and the work was easy enough for him to do to the point where the food and recreations were pretty much free to him, there was a silent catch. The Elysians were accused of a terrible crime to the galaxy, and mostly every other country declared war on it, save for those without the power or will to do so, like the human civilization. There was constant fear that the city would be destroyed and emergency drills were regular. One day however, the city was attacked by the Dragon Faction and started to "kidnap innocents". Gene was so unfortunate to be one of them. . .

Stuck on a creepily dark cruiser in space, one of the also creepy reptillians who were among the attackers said something strange to the prisoners: "You will all be released at Cyberpunk city, the centerpiece of Galactic civilization, where Elysian oppression will never touch you again" Huh? Oppression? Is this propaganda? What?

After a shaky jump to hyperspace, a bright green and blue planet approached. As he looked out the window, he saw a black patch on the planet, looking like a tumor on the planet. Cyberpunk city

All of the elysians were dropped off at a space station just off the planet where they were given new IDs, new housing pods, 100 emeralds, and a cookie. They would then be escorted to a space elevator to the planet, and were seemingly abandoned at the massive crowd.

Gene disliked his surname, because Brown was 200 years outdated at very least, and the cookie he was given tasted like chocolate mixed with salmon. Gross. He decided to change it to Grey, to match his family surname and because it didn't sound like an IT guy from the 1000 millenia.

After a run through the city square, Gene found one of his childhood friends, Kai who apparently moved to cyberpunk from the crippled human eucenmopolis. After a quick embrace, Kai offered a tour of the massive city. In Kai's strange... vehicle, they drove across the massive city.

(Most humans and elysians used cars which hovered over magnetic spherical wheels as an upgrade from the now outdated modern car, but as an alternative to the dangerous flying car-like system)

"And this is the underworld section, where it's literally under the massive bridges that connect the multi-mile high towers. It has many cheap housing pods, massive crime, and cultural centers." Kai said. That was a literal day of driving, and the tired two decided to stop at the nearby slippy's, Gene knew that When Kai said there was crime, he never thought that they would get in a fight at a standard resturaunt. As the two exited the car, two strange, animal like figures appeared seemingly out of nowhere. "give us your card and maybe you could forget you ever saw us" one demanded. The other heals up a spazer. "Okay, fine" Kai said, and grabbed his card from his pocket, to Gene's suprise. But he then realized what Kai was thinking when he had his spazer behind him. But he knew that there was another thug, who would "make things difficult" so Gene approached the other thug and without even thinking, he heard what sounded like a tree being thrown against a concrete building, and kinda saw what looked like it too. He looked down at the fist that made all that happened so quickly. It was his fist, the mechanical one he had been upgraded with. In horror, the other thug ran away, but was stunned by the spazer bolt Kai fired.

"Wow! That was insane!" Kai ranted at the table. "Have you considered being a bounty hunter? All of the cool guys in the city are. You could even beat Seamus's hunted bounty count!" Sigh. Kai was known to be excessive (like this backstory), and Gene doubted that he could beat Seamus, the legendary bounty hunter that eradicated a species of parasites. But it was worth a shot, and when he returned to his pod, he incorporated a switchable spazer beam into his right arm, which he admittedly had to go to a shop to do, but it was actually cheap, for the USB ports in his arm provided sufficient power for the spazer to functioned and day after day, became among the highest bounty hunters in Cyberpunk city, earning millions of credits each day.
