The Ferryman

Deep in the ashless remains of the world, or what some call the Pale Void, a guide wanders the wastes with their pale glowing lantern. They guide the Ashless Remnants, and anyone else who is unfortunately enough to be trapped in the Pale Void.

Where does it guide them to is unknown, those who choose to follow the being are never seen again, whether that be to the final death of their being, or to their salvation, is only known by those who have chosen to follow.

Drifters, still aware of their humanity and seek an alternate means out of the Pale Void, choose to avoid the Ferryman, in fear that it is simply a manipulator, guiding them to something far worse.
