Few characters are as ubiquitous in fairy tales and folk lore as The Big Bad Wolf. For a time, wolves and nature were very much an enemy to human society. With the genuine threat of wolf attacks, the character of the 'wolf' would become prevalent across many fables and tales.


Typically the wolf maintained its predatory nature in fairy tales. It often encompassed aspects of fear, deception, malice and dread.
