German Soldiers in WW2 were the main fighting force of the Heer. The Wehrmacht, or Nazi Germany's armed forces, had many divisions and specializations of soldiers who fought for Hitler's Reich. In the Heer, Feldgendarmerie units were part of the military police. These men were assigned to guard entry points and gun down partisans or deserters. They were commonly seen wearing their distinctive gorget, which signified their involvement. These soldiers would be commanded by an officer ranking captain or below. They usually commanded their troops with a sidearm.
