The Irish Republican Army (IRA) is an Irish paramilitary group with a political movement of anti—imperialism and Irish Republicanism.
The IRA's goal is to achieve full independence of Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom, including — and mainly — ending the military occupation of Northern Ireland (part of Ulster).
The IRA relies on the support of a part of the Catholic population of Northern Ireland in its activities. He considers his main opponents to be supporters of preserving the province as part of the United Kingdom.
