I hadn't seen anyone do this before, so here it is! This is as close as I could get to replicating the beacon as it was seen in the 12w36a snapshot.

The beacon is designed with programmer art textures in mind but it works with the Jappa ones as well!

--THINGS I WANT TO DO BUT CAN'T--

+ It can't rotate like in the snapshot without mods :(
+ The beacon beam stays the same, as there is no way to change the model or make it transparent (that I know of)

I think you can change the beam in the entities folder, you could just download a pack that changes it and copy what you see. It does overlay different colors over it though so if you make it red or something and put blue stained glass on it, it will be purple, etc.
