Just another thing that got to my mind the other day. Wouldn't it be a nice addition? If anyone wanted to address something to the person behind all the work rather than commenting on one specific submission, profile comments would be the perfect place for that. I see that there are already options to do so, by either sending a PM, starting a forum post or just writing a comment on one single submission - I don't think that's quite the same though.
This is a great idea! It kind of reminds me of the channel comments system from the Old 2005-2011 YouTube, and as someone who loves the nostalgic feeling of that used-to-be-wonderful site, I'm all for this widget! :3
I originally thought I'd incorporate this into the wall widget but I think there's a fair number of members that would prefer not to have others posting on their wall. I could have made it an opt-in or opt-out feature on the wall but I think a better solution will be creating a separate guest book widget. What do you think? That way it's up to each member whether or not they want others posting on their profile page and it will keep a nice neat & manageable log for those that do.
That's definitely the right approach. Making it the members' decision whether or not they want public comments on their profiles sounds like a reasonable solution to me, considering that people's opinions on the matter seem to diverge greatly. Thanks for listening to what the community has to say and for being open to new suggestions!
but also would be nice if there was a diss tasteful comment on the page that's the profile page you could delete it, without waiting on moderators.
^Whether to clean out the comment section to be clean or stop trolls would help so moderators aren't spammed by this.
