While searching PMC, I often look for the "best" submissions (quality-wise).


The community often gives diamonds to better quality submissions but I don't feel this is represented well enough in the "best" category in the search engine. The search results for best, prioritize submissions with an awful lot of views but very few diamonds, over submissions with a pile of diamonds but little views.

A factor in this is that very old submissions are not balanced out with new ones, since old submissions were able to gather a lot of views over time, but newer submissions did not.

I think weighing diamonds significantly more heavily, will make for good optimization of search results for "best".

Perhaps even optimize the calculation so, that there's balancing for time:views ratio. So that the older a submission, the more views it must have to get to the top of "best".
