This blog is a list of 10 player abilities (like sprinting, jumping, attacking etc...) that I would like to see in Minecraft. If you have anything to add, feel free to leave a comment with your idea :D. If you agree with what I list leave a diamond or even a FAVORITE :D, if you want to see more things I want in MC subscribe!

1. PARKOUR

You may already notice that 1 out of every 3 new projects is a parkour map (the other 2 are survival/adventure maps). Well why not actual parkour? What I have in mind is that you would be able to jump at a wall and hold shift to stick to it, then jump and hold shift in any direction. This could allow for REALLY FUN parkour maps, daring PvP escapes/chases and a whole lot of fun :D.

2. BETTER SWIMMING

The player would actually look like they were swimming, instead of just walking through the middle of an ocean (one of the many quirks of MC). You swim with your head in the direction you were swimming, like a normal person. When you swam up your head would point to the surface, and the opposite for diving. Additionally, when you jump into water you can press Z to rotate so that you dive headfirst into water. The upside is you fall faster and get a boost of speed when swimming for a quick water escape, on the downside if you do it on land you take extra fall damage.

3. SPRINTING UNDERWATER

So its the same control as normal sprinting except you get a speed boost underwater and your hunger meter depletes faster (swimming is tiring).

4. BETTER COMBAT

This includes better blocking, combo moves, and better sword strikes. Blocking and sword strikes would have multiple animations (visible to the user and to anyone else) and each strike would have a random chance of being a different animation (out of three different animations). The big fix for combat though, would be to include Combo multipliers. If you land 4 strikes in 2 seconds at an even beat then the damage for each hit increases by 1/2 heart! So the maximum damage you can do for the 4 hits with a diamond sword is 17! While normally it would be 14. This is really good for a PvP match between heavily armored foes. It also introduces finesse to combat, so that button mashing is no longer encouraged (poor, poor computer mice). Combo's for axes would include a knock back effect, the knockback after four paced hits being 10 blocks.

5. TACKLING

This entails one person falling onto another person/mob (hostile only). A succesful tackle is done by falling onto a person/mob and holding K. The tackle will do 0.5 hearts + 0.5x[Normal Fall Damage]. For example I jump off a 23 high block cliff onto Steve, normally I would die on impact, but since I initiated a tackle I take no damage and Steve takes 5.5 hearts!(normal fall damage would have been 10). If the fall would have taken more than 10 hearts normally then the tackle will fail and you will "hit the ground to hard." This is useful for lightly armed and stealthy people having a chance against heavy foes. The tackly animation will be the tackled person lying face down and the tackler standing up right next to them. The tackle, if not fatal, will stun the tackled person for 1.5 seconds. During this stunned time they cannot take any damage, but it allows the tackler to get into a position to strike when the stun ends. Note: This is the second hardest thing to accomplish that I will list here.

6. CRAWLING AND LYING DOWN

To crawl you would press capslock, to lie down you would press caps lock and L at the same time. While crawling you can enter 1x1 holes, hide behind 2x1x1 blocks and move around invisible to hostile mobs (and possibly noobs since your gamertag will be invisible). Other players will still be able to see you, however it will be easier for you to hide. However, you move even slower than when you press shift and you can't attack, destroy or place blocks. When you lie down however, you can shoot a bow. The bow will do 1/2 extra heart of damage to unarmored foes and you will get a more accuracy. You will also be a smaller target. However, when you are crawling or lying down your field of vision is restricted (You cant be a freak who turns their head in every direction). This means you have to position yourself well and make sure you have a buddy watching your vulnerable back so that he/she can defend you from surprise attacks.

7. GRABBING

It would be much easier to start a farm if we could actually put the animals in their cages! Well with this addition you could. By going up to a pig, for example, and holding G and left clicking, you will hold the pig. The pig however has a 25 percent chance of escaping. Larger mobs like sheep and cows have a 50% chance of escaping but Chickens and Squid have a 12.5% chance of escaping. You cannot grab tameable, hostile or neutral mobs. You cannot grab players.

8. THROWING

If you hold B and the right mouse button at the same time you will charge a throw. You can throw any block (not items). A fully charged throw of any block does 1 heart of damage and a knockback of 5 blocks, this is useful for PvP users who are unarmed but are being threatened. If the block hits no one it will fly for 30 blocks and land as a placed block.

9. ASSASINATIONS

Yes, this is for the Ninjas. If you press shift and attack a hostile mob or player from behind, your sword will do double normal damage (without armor). If you use a DIAMOND SWORD then it's a one hit kill (with any armor). This makes spending two diamonds on a diamond sword worth it (they only do 1/2 heart more than iron normally). This is EXTREMELY CHALLENGING. Most of the time you attempt this you will fail and most likely die so practice on hostile mobs or ambush people. For hostile mobs you can crawl up behind say a zombie and then pop up and assasinate the zombie before it can say "Growl." For people a more stealthy ambush may be needed. Have one or more players chase the target to the ambush sight then pop up from a crawl and pounce on the exposed and unfortunate player. In my opinion, this would make PvP soooooo much more fun.

10. ROLLING

When you are crawling and try to sprint, instead of crawling faster like a wierdo you will go into a forward roll. This is good for a stealthy exit/entrance, a quick attack and just looks awesome. However your hunger bar will deplete really fast (Rolling is hard) so pack some food.

SMART MOVING MOD : by jimbo-rainy 08/17/2012 1:21:42 pmAug 17th, 2012

I was unaware that such a mod existed before people in the comments section told me about it. For legal purposes, all the ideas stated above are my own, they were not infulenced in any way by the Smart Movement Mod (I didn't know it even existed). Additionally, the Smart Movement Mod is outdated. I also intended for the new abilities to maybe be included in Vanilla Minecraft, since most MC users dont mod. If you still use MC1.0 then feel free to download the Smart Movement Mod.

Most MC users DO mod. Some MC users don't have a good enough computer to mod, so they don't mod, so then if this is added into vanilla minecraft they won't update because it will be WAAAYY too slow.

Some MC users don't mod because they don't know how though. But there are tutorials for that.
