To begin with, this is a true story. It happened to me, my brother and sister while playing Minecraft. I tried to find others who had experienced the same thing, but to no avail.

Me and my brother often play Minecraft together, always on a private server using Hamachi. Staring over wasn't anything unusual for us and since my sister wanted to play Minecraft (for the very first time) as well, we made a new server together. Little did we know we would be haunted, harassed and scared out of our minds just hours after we started.

Starting all over, my brother tried to teach my sister the basics of Minecraft as I went on exploring the nearby areas. We spawned near a village, providing us with carrots and potatoes at an early point of the game. What luck, I thought, as my brother started building our house, my sister ran away from spiders and I gathered coal and iron. When the house stood ready my brother and I headed down into the depths of the Abyss as my sister kept crying over the pigs escaping and cows making sad "moooo"s.

As my brother, the pro builder, started creating an underground living area, I pushed on and found what we call "the spawn area blocks" - Moss stone. "Great!" I thought. "There's always some chest with goodies in those areas". As I hacked my way through the wall, I find myself in an uncompleted spawn room. The thought of it being man-made never crossed my mind, as those spawn rooms usually are a bit too perfect anyway. I called my brother over. The room had a ceiling, three walls, but no floor and no spawn point. Down below lurked the usual group of monsters in the darkness. My brother didn't find it very unusual, so we started gathering the Moss Stone, thinking it's a good looking building material after all. Getting ready to go back to our little house, we both turned around to find ourselves standing face to face with a skeleton head mounted on top a fence stick. This was creepy enough, but we shrugged it off claiming that head have great decorative attributes. We took it with us and started exploring other parts of the cave. But whenever we turned around, we found ourselves being watched. By more and more decapitated heads. Human heads, Skeleton heads and Wither Skeleton heads. Whenever we performed an action, mining ores, crafting or placing TNTs, we'd always find heads when we turned around. At first we thought the heads were restricted to the mines, but when they started showing up above ground as well, we didn't know what to believe.

We were both feeling the creepy atmosphere and didn't dare to go alone anymore. "We must have missed something" my brother claimed. "Lets go back to where we found the first head". We made our way back to the room I had demolished earlier to find it had been rebuilt. A perfect, small little room, a lone chest in the middle of it, watched over by a decapitated human head on a fence stick. We also noticed the chest looked a bit different. There was a sort of red line around the lock of it. In the chest we found more heads. No signs. No hints. We started putting the heads into the chest. Every head we could find. More heads appeared! We started looking around in the cave, thinking the heads will lead us somewhere; The more heads that appeared, the more sure we were that we were going the right way!

They led us back to the room with the chest. We put all the heads into the chest. All of the sudden, the head on the stick changed into a Wither Skeleton head. We looked into the chest to find a Nether Star!

To our great joy, the heads stopped following us!

But the story was far from over.

My brother had noticed two beacons in the sky. We followed them to find a golden platform with two chests! Luck must have tracked us down, because we found well over 50 diamonds. Standing on the platform for a while a few of the gold stones turned into pressure plates, stepping on one by mistake when the whole platform exploded! We survived, but the shock of the explosion left me running back home to drop of the diamonds in safety.

We all scattered in to different directions. I went home to craft some well deserved equipment, my brother entered the Nether and my sister explored some cave near where we had found the platform.

"What are those octopus monsters?" my sister asks all of the sudden. Since she had already familiarized herself with the normal squids swimming in nearby lakes, I found it weird that she reacted to this mob and figured it must be a Nether Ghast. "What? Those monsters belong in the Nether.." I said. "Wait there". I made my way to my sister to find her staring at a Nether Soldier. "Yea, we call them 'Nether pigs', don't kill it. Strange to find it here, though.." I said. "Where did you see the octopus? Was it like a big white, flying head that made weird noises?" "Oh, in the beginning of this cave. It was like a pink octopus, though, not a flying head". Not taking her explanation too serious, since she just started playing, we pushed on in the caves.

After a while I get lost, trying to guide my sister through the darkness and fending off all the monster who wanted to kill her, when I suddenly noticed the color in the caves changed. It turned into a sort of cold blue (I think there's a sort of mod for that atmosphere, but I wasn't using it). "Why did the color change?" I asked. My sister didn't seem to take notice, but pushed on. When I finally lost her to her strong will to explore on her own, I found myself crossing the same blue corridor for a third time when trying to catch up to her. All of the sudden, a very LOUD music started playing! I don't know the song, I've never heard it before. It sounded like 2 songs playing at the same time. A sort of trance and death metal and a voice shouting "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!" in a sort of 'death metal' kind of way.

I'm freaking out. I run like hell and hide in a hole in the wall, waiting the music out. I'm screaming for help. "What the hell is going on?" my brother shouts. "There's a loud music and it said 'You're going to die'!!" I responded. I start making my way out of the caves. "Please tell me you're at our house, brother! I want to TP to you!" "I'm not, I'm deep in the Nether" he said. I made my way back to the house, my heart still in my throat. "Did it really say 'You're going to die'?" my brother asks. "Well, the music was so loud, I couldn't really make it out.. But that's how it sounded, yes.."

I finally made it home. My brother asks me to step through the Nether portal so he could use me as a TP point to get back. A while later my sister made it home too. I go upstairs in our lovely little house just to find a head mounted above my bed with a sign under it.

"You're going to DIE"

My brother swears, he didn't do it. After all, he had been in the Nether all this time. And my sister had just started playing, so she doesn't even know how to CRAFT a sign. I bug my brother to admit what kind of mod he implemented to the server. He didn't add any.

The next day we log back in to find all of our cows and pigs were gone and our house are missing a brick every here and there. We logged out at the same time yesterday, so I don't think we did it. It wasn't like a Creeper exploded; It was missing bricks randomly all over the house. I head back to the room with the decapitated head and chest, it's gone. When I turn around, I find a skeleton head on a fence stick! AGAIN! I go back to our house to find it's been burned down to the ground. That's when we closed down the server and started anew.

I know it sounds strange, I have never experienced anything remotely close to this in Minecraft. If I had been playing alone, I may have been questioning my sanity, but both my brother and sister were there as well. We all saw it, but I was the only one who heard the music.

I tried googling these events, but none seem to have experienced the same thing. I also posted the whole story on a forum, just to find the Admin had removed it 2 minutes later, sending me the link to the some rule claiming I'm not allowed to post about that kind of stuff. Reading through the rule, it didn't apply to my story, so I have no idea why he removed it.

Anyone experienced something similar? We were too afraid to continue playing at our own server, so we started a new one. Nothing so far, but it's only been a few minutes..

Might of been someone pranking you.
Maybe when you weren't looking/playing your brother or sister quickly made those signs and placed down heads.

Yes I know your sister just started but she could have checked the recipe of a sign.

Yea, that's what I thought too, but when I saw the heads spawning around me when I was completely ALONE, I didn't question it anymore. My sister isn't really the gamer kind and she didn't know how to equip the sword even. Granted she could have checked the recipes, but she tried to combine sticks with stones in the OVEN, so.. This all happened in one single evening, so I didn't stop playing at any point of the story. Also, keep in mind we were playing on our own private server, so there were no other people around.

Even if parts of the story could be explained with a simple "Someone's pranking you" (which is exactly what I thought when the sign appeared), it still doesn't explain everything that happened. I literally saw the heads pop up in front of me when I was alone (when I turned around quick enough) and they didn't make the usual "pop"-sound everything makes when you put it down (f.e. placing a cobblestone or crafting table). If just one head popped up, I could excuse that with "oh, I prolly didn't hear my brother plant it there", but there was 11 heads popping up at one point when I was totally alone in a matter of a second.

Also, my sister was with me the whole time in the caves. The cave was FAR from home and I left the it before she did. Also, how does that explain the music? At first I thought I had Firefox running and a commercial started, but Minecraft was the only thing running (and skype to talk with bro and sis). The music was WAY louder than the sound on skype, by the way.

I just can't seem to explain it all, but let me just tell you - next time, I'll be ready to hit "Record".

I know, right .___. ?
I don't know if you've played it, but in some puzzle / adventure maps, ppl seem to have coded it so that heads appear in front of you when you re-enter a room, almost like a part of the story. So the whole "head pop appearing" must be in code.
Also, since we slept in the beds, the "code" knew that was our spawn point if we died. That's how it knew where to put the sign.

I think that must be relevant to the whole experience.
