A journey to be remembered, a story to be forgotten.A journey to be remembered, a story to be forgotten.

A journey to be remembered, a story to be forgotten

There was a man.

A man who defied the law.

A man who defied the heavens.

A man who defied the concepts of reality.

A man who will be remembered.

A man, who has a story, had a story.

A story to be forgotten.

An outcast, a thief. A criminal, a rogue.

One who left the army.

One who betrayed the king.

One who left everything behind for a journey.

One who never used his wedding ring.

In the midst of his thievery, in the midst of his crime.

He met a young lady, one who washed away his grime.

She cared for him, he cared for her.

She is the one who made him become an explorer.

A clear sky, during a beautiful night.

The one which might as well have been a blight.

She was taken hostage and he was beaten.

With the floor covered with their meal, the one they had never eaten.

He was forced on a journey.

One that was considered impossible.

The journey to a distant land.

The journey to the rim of the world.

With his future wife in prison.

With his goal far from his vision.

With his hatred fueling him.

Off he set, to the rim.

With a deadline that kept him moody.

With the ones he will forever hate, abusing his lady.

The one who pulled him out of crime.

The one who cleansed his grime.

‘I will return for you

And for our unborn son, too’

Off he went, on a great majestic galleon.

Over the sea, where he can forget his days in the battalion.

Meeting unknown dangers, ones that are unheard of.

That, merely being mentioned, could make people’s mouths froth.

Week two it was, when he felt a stirring in the wind.

A feeling of uneasiness, felt only by the ones who sinned.

The wrath of the gods would strike soon.

Under the light of a full moon.

The full moon came, one reminiscent of his final days with his beloved.

A clear, beautiful, yet eerie day.

One in which is beloved, in her prison, sobbed.

The man, on the deck, looking up, lay.

When a flash of lightning crashed down upon the mast.

The structure almost crushed the man.

He awoke his men, but he still had to think fast.

Up towards the figurehead, he ran.

His eyes met with a beast.

Half eagle, half whale.

One who found a feast.

It was fierce, with a body like that of the mountains.

One that could support a city.

It was looking upon them, with the lightning looking like fountains.

His crew’s future looked truly bloody.

The beast was gone. Did it dive into the sea?

A shadow fell upon them. Was it a cloud? Nay!

The monster was above them, shrieking like a horribly

They doubted that they would see another day.

The situation was mortifying.

Yet, it got worse.

Upon the whale they saw something petrifying.

A demon clad in armour, clearly showing no remorse.

The figure was shimmering in and out of vision, like a hologram.

With its deadly trident sweeping the waves.

Rising up again, to call a deadly wave of lightning that was aimed at their diaphragms.

They would die with no graves.

The man awoke on the beaches of an island.

One that was unknown.

A beach that was never touched by the human hand.

One where he was alone.

The few who were washed up with him were already dead.

But it was the New World he was in, the one he must find!

The image of his beloved appeared in his head.

Now he must set off home, was what was in his mind.

‘I will wait until the night and record the stars

I must show them where I went, and how far’

Night came, but the sky was clouded.

It was truly a miracle, that a demon left him here.

This island, in mystery, was shrouded.

Yet he felt little to no fear.

He shall build a new boat, with the unknown trees of the nearby forest.

And return home, with fame and glory awaiting.

Actually, nay. He will go back in secret and start a colony with the bravest.

His wife and himself, the king and queen of this new-found land.

So much to be told and so much to be expected.

Oh, and of course. Those wretched hostage-takers will be banned.

He went straight to work, with his pocket knife that was dented.

The following night was also clouded.

And the night after.

And the night after.

Every night was clouded.

No nights were clear.

In mystery, the island was truly shrouded.

But there was nothing to fear.

Perhaps it was merely bad weather.

Consecutive days of cloud may be common in this new found world.

Back to building he went, putting back on his hat decorated with a feather.

The clouds whirled.

The next morning he awoke to the smell of smoke.

He felt as if he would choke.

He looked about himself, and cried in astonishment.

The forest was burnt to charcoal and of usable wood, there was no fragment!

What happened? Did lightning strike?

Nay, his clothes were dry and the forest was in a dike.

Then he heard, once again

The sound of shrieking, making his ears feel pain.

The great monster that was looking for a feast

And the rider that was even more of a beast.

Wait. The shrieking was heavier, thicker, denser.

It cannot be! More than one could not have come hither.

10 of them there were, all of them were fierce.

Their tridents to his skin would obviously result in a pierce.

Yet his hopes for his wife lived on.

It gave him strength, and a change he had undergone.

His desperation and his fear fueled him.

And his chances of survival were no longer slim.

A flash

A crash

They could all be heard.

The lightning struck and the beasts looked upon him without a word.

The monstrous stallions drew closer.

Yet the man was feeling braver.

Raising his dented knife, he prayed to the gods.

They listened to his prayers and raised their divine rods.

The knife became a blade, with unearthly beauty.

A blade that made all feel dreamy.

He slashed, thrusted and slaughtered.

The days in the military returning, though slightly altered.

His wish was granted by divine.

Strength that ignored the boundary line.

In those minutes, the demons were killed.

With pride and relief, the man was filled.

Yet he knew, this island was infested with demons.

It was their home, in which they feasted on clumsy captains.

He exchanged his life for the power the gods gave him.

He was feeling weaker by the second.

He continued to move and build, despite not feeling his limb.

He continued to build, although his vision darkened.

A flag, one that could be seen from a distance.

His son would come for him, he was sure.

The horizon was filled with true brilliance.

The rising sun and the warming sunlight almost felt like death’s cure.

The man fell upon the sandy floor, awaiting his son’s return.

The man fell upon the sandy floor, awaiting his son’s vengeance.

The man felt a pain in his chest, much like heartburn.

A tear fell, filled with feelings, that could be heard in the silence.

Regret, as he could not see his son.

Joy, as he knew of his son’s future.

Satisfaction, as he knew of what will happen to this land.

Sadness, as he knew of his wife’s fate and his own.

And finally, an emotion that could not be described with words.

One that is like hope, yet much like the complete opposite.

When the man did not return, the wife was executed.

Her body was forever blighted.

But the son lived on.

Born in prison, he was taken away and carried their baton.

His father’s divinity was passed on to him, thought he must explore them himself.

It was enough for it to not have an impact on his health.

But this is not the story of a journey that will be remembered.

This is not the journey to be forever forgotten.

The story of this boy is one to be known by all.

A story of adventure, rage, hope, failure.

A journey of danger, completion, inheritance.

A journey to the new world.

A story of a new kingdom.

A journey to be known and forever remembered,
a story that is yet to be completed.

The sketches- yes
The actual parchment background - no
however, I discussed with Crazy Piglett if I can use CCO images, which he said yes to, which that background is.

I feel like some of the rhymes don't flow very well. The syllables don't match.

aight. tbh I really struggled with the rhyming and went out of my way to figure this stuff out, so it is kind of painful to know that. Regardless, I will make some tweaks :P

Much like my previous blog contest entry, this blog story is relatively dark and a bit sad. It is about a guy who was basically saved from his life of crime by a woman, and eventually they fell in love. They are separated and the man is forced on a journey to find the 'New World'. The woman is held hostage and if he doesn't return, she will be executed. After fighting a beast, the man is washed up on the 'New World'. However, the 'New World' is in fact infested with the beasts he fought. He dies after killing them through a sort of miracle, and then the woman is killed. However, her child survives and the child is then going to go and find the 'New World' in order to avenge his father..... or will he?
