A simple sacrifice

To give to others without reimburse,
To bear another's hardships without a curse,
To seek the needs of others over your own,
To rejoice at the seeds of happiness sown,
This is the simple sacrifice one ought to bear.

When temptation and torment arise,
Stand firm! give not to evil's lusty guise.
Upon the fickle waves of life, sail
With constant giving, in order to prevail.
This is the path of sacrifice one ought to bear.

Walk with an open heart and do not look down
On those who hate or injure, but wear the crown
Of thorns and smile, for from your humble heart
Shall radiate the joy which had been sought.
This is the fruit of sacrifice one ought to bear.

Love is loyal, love is bold,
Love is not fueled by looks or gold.
Even to death and the end of time,
Steadfast it remains and resounds with rhyme.
This is the work of sacrifice one ought to bear.

Like wine it strengthens with each day,
Being tempered and crafted without decay.
As soft as the breeze, as hard steel,
Love will strive to defend and heal.
This is the quality of love one ought to bear.

To love is the simple sacrifice that is beyond compare.

Love, romance, infatuation. They are all different. This world haa seemed to lose grasp of the essence of true love, although you have done a good job defining it herein. This is something I tried to touch on in my own poem. It's a rare thing to see these days. +2
