This isn't really a blog, it's just something that happened to me recently.
So, I was being Moderator on ParadisePvP, and all of the sudden this new player shows up (I will not say the username due to privacy reasons.) I give him the standard, "Welcome (Insert Username here)!", but right after I say it, he says, "come play at -insert ip here- and if u get 10 players u get op!!!" Of course, I save the Ip, and I ban the player immediately.
I decided to take matters into my own hands, and go onto the server he advertised to let the staff know. But as soon as I come on, I see that the user who advertised wasn't a player, he was an ADMIN. I was shocked, and I tried confronting him and letting the owner know of his whereabouts. But as soon as he sees me, he bans me. No, not a kick, not a temp-ban, but a legit, 100% permanent ban. I was furious.
So, I decide to send another staff member on ParadisePvP to the server to spy on the advertiser, who didn't regonize the person I sent was from ParadisePvP. The owner was AFK, so after a while the owner finally came on, and the person I sent told the owner everything. Then, the owner did something no one could have predicted. He said that he was the one who sent the advertiser there, and then banned the person I sent.
Lesson:
Advertising your server is not the right thing to do, and you should feel ashamed for doing so.
