In ChallengeCraft, Minecraft gets much harder (thats not what she said)...
To start off you are given a few basic items that will help you survive... but not for long. Just like in vanilla Minecraft you'll have to mine, fight, and build if you want to survive. However in Challengecraft everything is made a lot harder. For instance mobs are all stronger, faster, and spawn much more frequently. You'll need a lot of weapons if you want to survive.
Another major challenge in the mod is that staying well nourished is very important. Drinking water and finding a stable food source should be the first things on your mind when playing this mod. If your hunger bar or thirst meter (represented by the XP bar) run out, you die instantly.
To increase the challenge even more in warmer biomes such as deserts or jungles, your thirst will run out faster. Luckily for you when it is raining you don't have to worry about drinking. The mod also adds a few new ways of survival. The first thing you should do your first night besides gathering food is to craft a fire. This can be made using a few grass, sticks, and cobblestone. Fires scare away hostile mobs and will keep you much safer even though they will require fuel from saplings and grass to keep them running. Torches can also be crafted by right clicking a fire with a stick. Torches will slowly run out though so be careful when traveling at night.
Paper can be used to bandage yourself and heal hearts and some dyes can get rid of potion effects (Ex: Green dye can get rid of poison, Pink dye can get rid of hunger, etc.) .
The final most important thing during survival will be your shelter. Zombies will be able to break all wood blocks and of course creepers can explode you'll have to build a sturdy building if you want to live another day. To add some more realistic features to the mod blocks cannot be broken unless you are using a tool that is meant to break it (axe for wood, pickaxe for stone, etc.)
As a final touch once you die you may respawn but all of your items are lost. Wherever you die, a grave marker will be placed there with your score and your head (graves can be destroyed but no items will be dropped).
