Crawlers

Here is another fanmade mob concept that I decided to wait to post simply because I had other things to do and wanted to post more skins here. These creatures would be among the smallest of the mobs in my version of Minecraft (alongside Fireflies, Silverfish, Endermites, Fireflies, and Redstone Bugs). I hope you enjoy this article and have a Happy Holidays~!

Crawler

Health: 2 HP (4 ❤️)
Speed: 35 SP normally, 45 SP when Alerted.
Damage: 1 HP (0.5 ❤️) via its bite, which would then give a Player the Sculk Infestation Status Effect, or convert any non-Player Mob into its Sculk Equivalent.
Behavior Class: Accessorial (Are required for the existance of all other Sculk Mobs, save for Sculkings and Wardens, due to the rest of them being not initially native to the Deep Dark).
Drops: 2 EXP Orbs, nothing else.
Category: Arthropod, Monster, and Sculk Family.

Crawlers are small, pale blue bioluminescent arthropods native to the Deep Dark and essential for spreading the Sculk while Sculkings and their adult counterparts protect it. These creatures hide within various sculk blocks and normally act passive whenever they don't detect any foreign movement. When alerted by the vibrations of Deep Darking Players and NPCs, curious neutral/hostile mobs from the Igneous Caverns, or a Villager trying to escape a local Illager camp, the Crawler speeds up toward the entity that alerted it and bites it once before digging into their skin (de-spawning). Players would be given the Sculk Infestation Status Effect, which would essentially distort player controls sometimes, make one's vision worse as the condition progresses, and have one's hearts turn blue until cured. The status effect can only be cured by drinking a Bottle O'light (a unique potion from the Skylands). Non-Player Mobs would be converted to the Sculk Counterpart and would be used by the hivemind to further spread itself and attack those who try to cure them.
Forunately, such an infection can be avoided. Crawlers are repelled by the scent of tropical foods (which are not native to the Deep Dark, being one of the coldest biomes in the Overworld), Hazmat Suits or Diamond/Netherite/Enderite Armor with Sculk Protection III, are still effected by the Bane of Arthropods Enchantment, and can be snuck away from via Sneaking much like the two other Deep Dark native mobs (toggled by the Shift key in Java Edition or double tapping the Sneak Key in Bedrock). Additionally, the Presence of Crawlers in an area also means any Shriekers can spawn a Warden should one activate one/a few enough times (regardless of whether the patch is naturally reoccurring or from a sculk catalyst placed down far away by a player/npc or Enderman), though in the case of artificially grown areas, it needs to at least cover a radius of 24 Blocks.

Notes:
  1. Crawlers count towards the Monsters Hunted, It Spreads, and Sneak 100 Advancements.
  2. They are based off of Tics from Real Life and could be considered a Deep Dark Variant of them. Crawlers were created so the Sculk could have means of spreading far without Player Interaction.
  3. 🎵 An Apple a day, keeps these bugs away 🎵
