Creative Griefing

I was recently on one of the servers I go on, when I noticed that my main building - my tour-de-force, if you will - was missing a few bits and pieces. It is my hotel I am making on a creative server, with first a reception building and then the hotel itself. The reception was in rough shape and it took some time to fix, but then I had to go up the loooong ladder into my hotel rooms (two floors so far), a total of 11, to check every single one. And when each room comes with at lest a bed, some torches, a bookshelf, a crafting table and chest, two chairs, and a table, it took a long time to have to refurnish everything. And then, as if to add to that, some of the doors, walls, and room-number signs were down. So, I had to put all that back up. Which led me to ask a question: why does someone grief on a creative server?

I understand, I have had my share of PVP servers and adventure/survival servers with bad admins who let griefing slip, but honestly? I can't get my head around why a fellow Minecraft player would just left-click over and over again to try and end someone's creation. I don't know if you are following me, so I'll explain another way of looking at it. When you grief someone on survival, you have the opportunity to take blocks, maybe raid some chests and get some free items. I personally don't like griefing, but for others it's just a way of playing. In creative, on the other hand, you are given an infinite amount of every single block with which you can build a veritable bevy of structures, pixel art, and redstone devices. There is no way to personally gain from taking others' blocks. So, that only leaves one reason: they are doing it out of spite.

That is why I think servers need to be more harsh about blocking and banning griefers. On this particular server, over the course of an hour I have seen players banned because of a record they have or one little thing they've done. Other servers need to step up, by placing more mods and admins in power who know the commands such as rollback. It is not fair to other players when someone has the power to go around and destroy things which people have worked hard to create. Let's get cracking!
