Disappearing Coaster

This is weird. I was testing my rollercoaster that went to the void. I went on it, and died and respawned. I looked around and it was gone. I even found the NPC village that it was in for half of it. I even built it right where i spawned so i wouldn't lose it. I'm not fully sure if this is a glitch or what. Does anyone have any ideas about it? (PS this is on singleplayer not multiplayer)
