It does strangely relate to the blog, I hope you enjoy the video and this blog.
Hello people, Greytopher here with another blog. This time, I'll be talking about fame and fortune, the good and the bad of being popular/becoming a growing star. I want to say thank you to Oliverfrenchie for giving me the idea, as we had quite the interesting Skype conversation about it!
Becoming a growing star..
No matter what website it is, or what you're doing, you always have that chance to become a 'star' at something. When I talk about being a star, what I mean to express is when someone becomes well-known, or more or less a celebrity in what they do. In this case I'm considered a 'celebrity' of the blogging section of PMC, although I don't consider it myself. Either way, when you become good at something, and you're known for it, there are a couple of ways that happen to you, that can either negatively or positively affect you in your life.
The Beginning... A Personal Experience
When you first start out posting, you don't really know what you're up against. At this time, you don't know what people want to see, what the 'popular reel' is, or what will happen when your stuff gets seen. For me, I only posted projects for quite some time. I didn't understand the aspect of blogs, nor did I care for texture packs and skins. I couldn't develop a mod, because I lacked in intelligence in that sort of thing. So, I did what I always did: build, and post. I didn't care for pictures looking good because I had a constant 27 subscribers (yeah, I remember!). But, I started to care how people felt about my stuff after they left constructive criticism, and that was around the time the Angel Blocks formed. I saw their photoshop techniques, and was intrigued in their cover photos.
From then on, I wanted to produce content that would eventually get the 'popular reel', and I didn't achieve that goal until I found myself raging in my Depression blog. That really surprised me, considering I never thought myself as even a remotely good writer. When I posted it, I blew up about 80 more subs, already reaching 100. From then on, I continued writing blogs for people that I like and appreciate.
Being a Known Member... The Stages of Fame
No matter what you do, make blogs, moderate the site, make youtube videos, you will somehow change once you reach popularity. For me, I don't see myself changing personality wise, but more or less improving on what I put out for you guys. I've met awesome people while I've been here, but those people make bad decisions once they make it to the popular reel, and keep doing so. Here are the different personalities of someone who's gotten famous.
1. Being extremely cocky.
There is no doubt in my mind that when people become famous, they become cocky. Cocky in ways that are along the lines of ignoring your friends, and only talking to people either more famous then you, or around the same level. These people continue to produce more content hiding with a mask on: nice and funny on the outside, but a real d-bag on the inside.
2. Mass producing content.
Although I don't see this happen on Youtube (usually), I do see this happen on PMC. When players FINALLY reach the popular reel for that one good submission (or bad), they want to get it again. They've tasted fame, and want to have more and more, but can't seem to get it again. Why? Because what they post is utterly crap. They post a lot of just low-quality things, in hopes of just getting the popular reel. Not for the sake of your subscribers, not for the sake of making the website a better place, but more for their own selfish gain.
3. Becoming awkward?
Now, this may be a weird one, but this sometimes does happen. Players who 'make it' actually can become more self conscious in what they produce. I for one, am like this, but what I describe is more... severe. These people tend to have great content and ideas (not purposely trying to flatter myself!), but then again get too scared to upload things because of the criticism of what they get. It's like if you build a house, and ask a moderator to rate it. They say 'improve', and you get scared on what to do. You get too nervous to ask again, and can't ask again because you're too scared of what they might say.
4. Not changing at all!
Although it can happen, I think of it to be extremely rare. Some people, just don't change whether their popular or not. This can be a VERY good thing depending on the person, but overall I would love to see this happen more. I don't have much to write about because, well, it's staying the same!
Bad Things Happen When You're Known...
Whether you're a Moderator of the website or extremely popular because of that one submission you posted, things are bound to happen when you're popular. I recommend everyone to read this part, as sometimes your 'dream' of becoming famous shouldn't turn out like this.
I've consulted with a couple of... 'known' people on the website, and I think it's safe to say you can get... fanboys. Fanboys are mostly your subscribers, but they're the group that make art for you, skins, ect. But, more often than anything else, fanboys can become... crazed. Like my previous blog (about harassment), I had one who trolled me, and wanted to marry me. I've also gotten threat PMs, hate comments, and I can assure you those aren't fun to read. That's the backhand of becoming famous. It can go to your head, become cocky, have crazy subscribers, and most of all, lose the friends you've always loved.
I've had a personal experience with that last one... I lost a friend because he had a major crush on a Youtuber. He had a server that I moderate on, and eventually he got in a Skype call with him. Soon after, he wouldn't talk to me because I was 'under' him, and proceeded to only talk to the famous ones.
Please, don't be that guy. Nobody likes someone who's cocky like that.

Okay here is the pun:
Grey, you must like big butts, because you cannot lie.
