have you ever made a building where any kind of lighting (like torches,redstone lamps or glowstone) doesnt fit with the structure? no more, now you can put lights for exaple glowstone on the floor and cover em with carpet! the carpet hides it completely and it keeps on lighting!!
carpet is also verry usefull to cover redstone.. see below
