Griefing. Please read; Get this message out.

Hey fellow miners & crafters of PMC. I see a lot of blogs on here about a variety of topics, some that interest me, some that don't. Some that have a general purpose, or a message. In this blog, I'm not going to be wasting your time. I'm going to be to-the-point about it. Griefing, it happens everywhere. I'd just like to say, why? Why would you be completely obnoxious to join someone's server just to destroy their countless hours of hard work. How do you sleep at night, knowing you completely defaced someones server/map. How could you live with the idea that you once ruined someone's day completely, by destroying everything that they & their friends spent their time creating. Well, I'll admit it. I once messed around and griefed too, but it was as a joke, and I completely rebuilt what I had destroyed. Did I feel like an asshole? Of course. I spent my OWN time fixing it for him & becoming friendly with him. I still feel guilt, even though it's resolved. Now since I've told my story, and shared my perspective, I'd like to tell you what happened. My best friend & I had ran many servers together, and we have good plugin configuration/building experience (Been doing it forever). We purchased a host yesterday, and created a 32 player vanilla community server. We had all of our old friends from Minecraft playing on it, and some new friends from this forum, and from the MInecraftforums. We trusted ALL of the players, and didn't even hesitate once to leave the server on for it's first night online since launch. I came onto the server this morning without being nervous to see if it was still there, because again, all the players were trusted. So, I join about an hour ago, and I'm greeted with the following images:

IT WAS A WHITELISTED & PRIVATE SEMI-VANILLA SERVER. I'M SMART ENOUGH TO USE WORLDGUARD, TRUST ME.


PLEASE DON'T COMMENT & TELL ME HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS, IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOOK SMART. THANKS.


SEEMS THAT PEOPLE TOOK THIS POST WAY TOO SERIOUSLY & DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE POINT. PLEASE DON'T COMMENT SOME SMARTASS COMMENT. IT'S COMPLETELY UNNEEDED. THANKS.

Stop saying "GIT WARLD GURD FEGGIT" everyone, All that stuff took a long time to make, I'm sure they have worldguard on their new server (if they have one) and will be more careful next time.

Although I am sorry for all your hard work, Its just a game. Nothing in this game actually exists and you shouldn't feel as bad for getting your stuff destroyed and instead feel thankful that your ACTUAL house didn't get broken into and destroyed. All you need is some spare time to fix grief in minecraft but in real life you need thousands of dollars. I feel like people are taking this game way to seriously and thinking of their creations like actual objects.

I'm so sorry to hear that you were griefed i own a server aswell and greifing is something that makes me try to understand who would do somethinglike this. Anyway I'd love to be part of your community and build with you guys!

If you actually used world guard, people wouldn't be able to modify your buildings. Unless of course they were and op. So if you did world guard the areas then make sure to check your op list for COMPLETELY TRUSTED PLAYERS.

I would like to join your server and help rebuild (if its not already done) as iv'e been griefed so many times and i hate to come back on a server to see my house is gone (thats happened 3 times to me :( ) so give me the IP and ill come help rebuild (again unless you already rebuilt it) :)

If you knew how to use an anti-grief plugin correctly that wouldn't have happened.

Maybe you can be NICE, he was just showing to be careful! Besides did he say WHAT NOT TO POST in the comments. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. And don't be all like "Your pretending to care." Well I am really caring it's a guy with a wrecked server. Maybe you could stop acting like a dick to this guy okay? And if you wanna call him dumb for not using world guard that's not the best thing to do on this site. If your not gonna be nice in the comment section don't post a comment and stay away from posts you don't like.

I feel sorry he got hacked.
Also note WorldEdit overrides protection! If a trusted person had worldedit, he could of done this!
Players who have permission inside WorldGuard regions also could of done this!
