Many people have tried their luck at a server. Many more will come that will try. This is a tutorial on how to make a good server!

Many people make a server with little dedication put into it, expecting it to become huge! This won't work! People want to see your dedicated to your own server. If your not dedicated to it, how can other players be?

In my time, I have come across servers that have WAY too much to do, or things to see for the amount of people commonly on it. Choose the type of server you want it to be (Example: SG, Mini-Game, Faction, Vanilla, RPG, etc.) and stick with that type until you get more people on. Also try setting a theme. A theme could be forest, or mountain. (We aren't talking about a story theme here!)

It is great to get your community of players on your server to vote, and possibly donate. it help the server grow, and become more popular on websites. But people do NOT want to be pestered by auto-broadcast to vote and donate, and be constantly restricted from things donators get to do that non-donors can't.

Do not ever be afraid to impress your server members. An example of impressing them is with a nice spawn. Not too big, or small, but with a fair amount of detail, and space for activities, and rooms. You can als show off your building skills in action in a creative world too! Anything to impress your peers!

That is something you obviously want... if you want to fail! Also, abusive staff, or plain out jerky staff are a no go. Try not to hire any of these type of people. They will not help you, or your server.

Rules are a key part to a successful server! Try to make suiting, reasonable, but not layed back rules! Also, never EVER be afraid to enforce a rule. Even against a donor (Hopefully not D:) Also make the rules easy to find! Make sure the player doesn't have the excuse to say "I couldn't find them!"
