According to the physics of Minecraft, when there is a village, there are at least 3 houses for each adult villager.
For a villager to consider some structure to be a house, all you need is a door, a ceiling, a couple of walls and some light if you feel generous.
Original size of village: 7 houses
The simplest "house" doesn't have to look nice and you can place them anywhere
You can even stack them together like this:
So, by placing these structures in places around your village, you can raise the population pretty quickly (for every 3 doors you get 1 new villager)
After building the 80 new houses shown below (using world edit), I had a new villager as soon as I was done
