My first interview with a moderator! (and my first interview in general)

Enjoy!

1. When did you start playing Minecraft?

I started playing Minecraft in the spring of 2012 (right as the official release came out). I used to hate the game and anyone who played it because to me it seemed stupid that it was just a game of building blocks and that people would only talk about Minecraft all the time. It was extremely annoying but I eventually gave in after my friends kept telling me to get it. Within an hour I was instantly in love with the game and I finally understood why everyone talked about it all the time, when only hours ago I hated it more than anything. I then went to watching tutorials and reading blogs for hours on end about Minecraft, and I also banded with my friends on a faction server where we quickly died out. It was a good feeling to be able to play such an open-world sandbox game like Minecraft..

2. What's your favorite part of Minecraft?

My favorite part of Minecraft is actually outside of Minecraft. It's the community. There are so many things to do and so many people to work with it felt like one big family that was scattered around the globe. I've made tons of friends in the community and I prefer talking with those people than going on servers with them. The game is fun, but it wouldn't be the same with the community.

2. You were recently promoted to Forum Moderator, how do you think it's going so far?

It's not what anyone would think it's like. It's an entirely new experience for me and but it's fun in the process and also the fact that I can clean the nasty goo in the forums is also a plus. Most people think that being a Forum Moderator gives you just lock, infract, and a couple little pieces of power and such, but there is a whole lot more to it. I like being a Forum Moderator, but I suggest it only for people who can dedicate lots of time to it.

3. What inspired your username?

Ah yes, my username. People claim it's amazing while others think it's incredibly random. I used to play a very slow-paced MMO a couple of years ago and my name was HawkStorm because my friends had similar names like PelicanStorm, ToucanStorm, and PenguinStorm. So my band of friends was wiped out by some guy and we left. I hate why they made ram ships so easy to make and people just happened to land of sulfur islands and that the alliances easily bound together and that crystal islands are stupid. When I came to make a Minecraft account, I tried HawkStorm and it was taken, so might as well make it some weird type of RPG-sounding odd profession like a Hawkstormer, and it stuck.

4. Who's your favorite PMC staff member? (besides yourself :P)

My favorite PMC staff member would have to be... peonftw. Even though I've never talked to him (I haven't had any long conversations with any of the staff), I think I'd find him the most relatable. For one, I seem to have a feeling he's from the same country as me (birthplace, not current place). Also he's the youngest staff member I know (correct me if I'm wrong), and since I'm younger, I might actually be the youngest staff member on PMC. And if you are reading this peon: I think durian was the big hint.

5. What's the most serious offense you've ever had to deal with on the forums?

Being on the forums for a relatively short time, I haven't found any extremely serious offenses, but the worst one I have stumbled upon was a guy spamming threads with the new update for ForceOp (which I doubt actually exists, but you never know). I got rid of the threads and the guy as people yelled at him in all the threads.

6. Can you give us a sneak peek at anything you're going to publish or release soon?

I have 3 words for my next submission:
Jungle.
Chests.
Hunger.

7. Anything else you want to say?

I just want to say one thing to all you out there who want to be a moderator on the forums or higher: DO NOT ACT LIKE A MOD IF YOU AREN'T ONE. There are only a few exceptions but now that I'm a Forum Moderator, I understand how annoying it is when people yell at someone for not following the rules (wrong section, spamming, correcting someone, yelling at them for obscenity, etc.) as if they're mods themselves. It gets on our nerves if you act like you're all superior to the original poster when you could just report it and have one of us deal with it. Just saying words in the thread won't change much. Alright, to get the point across, let me say it again: DO NOT ACT LIKE A MOD IF YOU AREN'T ONE, AND IF SOMEONE IS BREAKING THE RULES SIMPLY REPORT THEM AND WALK AWAY.

Thanks for taking the time to do this interview!

No problem, sorry I ended on a bad note, but I just had to tell the world about this marvelous advice. Thanks for interviewing me!

I agree, he is a great dude. But making pop reel on blogging section is no longer important. Too many crappy blogs have made on pop reel with merely two diamonds. Nevertheless, Im loving this interview! :)
