Hello yes yes hi Stocking here with another blog.
Today, we're talking about jealousy & ignorance, and a brief explanation about how PMC Contests Work.
I felt this was necessary and needed for people who do not completely understand the concept of contests on this site. If this blog offends you or breaks a rule in any way that i am unaware of, please let me know ASAP, or remove my submission if you are a moderator.
So, today, I found out that my contest entry for the twisted reality contest made it to the finalists. Some of my friends also made it to the finalists, so I congratulated them naturally. Then, I found a comment that said on my entry along the lines of, "Sorry, but I don't really see how this twists reality." At first I wasn't bothered, because this wasn't the first comment I received that said about the same thing. I politely explained my concept. Immediately after I responded, I clicked on their profile out of curiosity so I could see if they entered as well.
Turns out, their entry got a very little amount of diamonds and obviously didn't make it to finals because of that, and their friend commented on their entry, "As usual, judges pick only their friends to win" blah blah. Then, the submitter replied to that comment their friend made with, "yeah, [a link to my contest entry was here] this (swear words that i do not want to put in my blog.) girl got in the finals and I didn't??"
This upset me alot.
So, lets cut to the chase:
I'm going to explain some basics about contests, some advice for people that have gotten hate like this, and some advice for haters as well.
The Basics of PMC Contests/PMC Contests For Dummies
So, basically, you submit something that is related to the contest topic. You have a limited amount of days to get as much feedback as you can from the community, meaning diamonds, favorites, suggestions, etc. After the time is over, the stats of all the entries are analyzed. Whichever entries have the most feedback within a reasonable amount of time [meaning, if you posted your entry a few days before the deadline and got, say, 20 diamonds, you have an equal chance as someone who posted their entry the first few days of the contest and got, say, 45 diamonds.] get into the top 100 finalists. After this is analyzed, the judges get a fair amount of time to give these 100 entries a score based on two things: Originality & Concept, and Technique. Whichever entries have the highest judge scores get higher places like first or second, while entries with rather lower scores get lower places.
Advice For People Who Are Upset About Not Being A Finalist, or Jealous of Finalists
It's COMPLETELY understandable if you are upset about the skin you worked really hard on not being a finalist, or if you're jealous of someone who did make finals/you think has better skill than you. But, the last thing you want to do is take out your anger on those people. For one, they haven't done anything to you, so don't attack them. They just wanted to enter the contest for (probably) the same reasons you wanted to. They didn't decide to be a finalist. Plus, taking action on your anger can get you in some serious trouble. You could get a stern talk from a scary moderator, or, even worse - get banned from posting submissions & comments. Yuck! You don't want that, do you?
So, the only action you want to take if you're jealous or angry is ignore those feelings, take inspiration from their work, think about what made their work better than yours, or what you can do to get your content better known if you're comfortable with it.
Advice For People Being Attacked By Those People
Don't panic, and handle the situation in a calm matter. Screenshot any mean comments/PM's before they get deleted by the sender, and ask a moderator for advice (I suggest a Site Moderator, such as Azie, Charlizard, etc.) They are professional and deal with this type of stuff way more than you can imagine, so they will know the exact way to deal with the situation you're in.
Getting Your Content Noticed to Higher Your Finalist Chances
As mentioned earlier, the content that is more appreciated by the community has a much higher chance of being a finalist. To get your content notice, I suggest advertising in the chat every 15 minutes. No more than 15 minutes because that is against the chat rules. You are bound to get some views and diamonds if you advertise your content properly and it is good.
This all being said, I hope you are well informed about everything mentioned above. If you have any questions, comment below. Thanks for reading!

(no, I don't really enter competitions, I'm being jealous or anything. c:)
Tbh I would prefer if diamonds didn't count at all and the skins were actually assessed by the judges..
Btw on the topic of your skin, I think it deserves to be in the finals..
I entered that Twisted Reality skin comp and was a bit disappointed about not making the finalists, but hey, better luck next time!
