Merging Materials
- A Minedea by TheBoo99

Merging Materials is a mod that allows you to make completly new materials using existing ones. For example,
- Dirt + Water >> Mud
- Water + Lava >> Obsidian
That is a little bit too easy, so this will also require enchanting points. (See costs section)
You can also upgrade existing materials, such as improved armor and tools or even Minecarts. And on top of it all, you can merge new mobs!
This would all be merged in the Merging Machine, a new block that would be added.

This was so long I decided to put it into separate spoilers :P

This feature is already explained, you can merge 2 different materials into new materials.
This is a whole new way to obtain items. For example, instead of having to make water fall onto lava, you can just merge together them under high pressure.
Examples:
- Dirt + Water >> Mud
- Water + Lava >> Obsidian
- TNT + TNT >> Nuke

This addition to minecraft also allows to upgrade your existing tools and armor, for example:
Obsidian + Diamond Armor >> Obsidian Diamond Armor (I)
This would give a slight bonus to the Diamond Armor.
You could do this with every tier in Minecraft, but they would all give different bonuses to the tool or armor.
I have made a schedule for those bonus effects.
Tool and Armor Boosts:
-Wood (+0.5%)
-Stone (+1%)
-Iron (+2.5%)
-Gold(+4%)
-Diamond (+7.5%)
-Emerald (+7.85%)
-Obsidian (+8%)
This would mean merging Diamond Armor with an Iron Ingot would result in a
Iron Diamond Armor (I)
This would take 2.5% more damage than a regular Diamond Armor
Futher merging the Iron Diamond Armor (I) with another Iron Ingot would result in a
Iron Diamond Armor (II)
This is 5% stronger than a regular diamond armor.
The max level of tool uprading is 5.

This new feature will allow you to do essentialy the same as with tools, but for Minecarts and Boats. For example:
Gold + Minecart >> Golden Minecart (I)
I've made a new merging schedule for the Transport Systems
Minecart bonus rates
-Gold (+5% Speed)
-Diamond (+7.5% Speed)
-Emerald (+7.85% Speed)
-Obsidian (+8% Speed)
Boat bonus rates
-Stone (+0.25% Speed and hardness)
- Iron (+1% Speed and hardness)
-Gold (+3% Speed and hardness)
--Diamond (+6% Speed and hardness)
-Emerald (+6.25% Speed and hardness)
-Obsidian (+6.75 Speed and hardness)
For example,
Diamond + Boat >> Diamond Boat (I)
Now, the Diamond Boat (I) would travel 6% faster and would have 6% hardness increase, so banging into a wall would not essentially make the boat break.
The max level of Transport System upgrades would be level 3.

This new feature would allow you to merge 2 mob eggs to make entire new species.
Example:
Creeper + Mooshroom >> Creepshroom (A mushroom creeper)
Zombie + Pig >> Zombie Pigmen
Slime + Zombie >> Sticky Zombie
You can only merge a mob egg 3 times.

Using this mod, you can merge together a material and a workbench to form a new workbench
The new workbench will have a chance to make 2 items instead of one.
Example:
Emerald + Crafting Table >> Emerald Workbench
Dublication rates:
Stone - Cannot be combined (due to balance)
Iron - Cannot be combined (due to balance)
Gold (+2.5% of dublication)
Diamond (+5% of duplication)
Emerald (+5% of duplication)
Obsidian (+7.5% of duplication)
You can only merge your workbench once.

This whole idea is rather big and advanced, but it's also very easy to make overpowered materials.
So I decided to make it more balanced. Or more specific, a enchantment level requirement.
Enchantment Points Costs:
- Upgrading Tools, Armor and Transports: +0.5 Point per level and tier
Example:
Obsidian (Tier 7) + Obsidian Diamond Armor II(Tier 5)
Obsidian Upgrade: 0.5 (Enchantment loss) * 7 (Tier) = 3.5 Enchantment Points Cost
Obsidian Diamond Armor: Level II (0.5 * 2) + Tier 5 (0.5 * 5) = 1 + 2.5 = 3.5 Enchantment Points Cost
Sum: 3.5 (Obsidian Upgrade) + 3.5 (Obsidian Diamond Armor II (Tier 5 and Level 2)
= Enchantment Point Cost: 7
See? This gives us a pretty balanced enchantment point cost.
- Mutating Mobs: +5 Enchantment Points per Merge
So the Creepshroom would cost 5 enchantment points.
- Upgrading the Crafting Table:
This is a rather overpowered feature, so I made the enchantment cost pretty big.
Starting at 7 Points and +3.5 Points per tier.
Example:
Obsidian (Tier 6) + Workbench
Initial Cost: 7
Obsidian: 3.5 * 6 = 21
Sum: 21+ 7 = 28 Enchantment Points
This is quite expensive, but remember, the Obsidian Workbench has 7.5% of duplicating a item.
- Regular Merging
This would cost initially 2 Points per Merge, with a +1 addition of already merged items being merged.
Example:
- Obsidian + Mud = Slow Floating Obsidian
2 + 1 (since both are already merged) * 2 = 4
So this is rather cheap, but it can't create really useful items, like Diamond Pickaxe or something.

Crafting
Crafting the Merging Machine is quite expensive. I got the recipe idea from the Anvil (uses alot of iron) and since this is a much more useful item, I made the recipe like this:

I might balance it up a little bit if necessary
Crafting the Merging Machine is quite expensive. I got the recipe idea from the Anvil (uses alot of iron) and since this is a much more useful item, I made the recipe like this:

I have scraped together some reasons why this would be added and why it's good:
- New possibilities, think of the new mobs and blocks you could create.
- A new enchanetment system, the Merge upgrade, would bring new types of Weaponry.
- You could build your own Merging lab and test the new stuff you'll make.

I think that this idea would bring Minecraft to a whole new level, like the enchanting and brewing systems did. I also think that the enchantment point cost would balance it all.
If this idea is a little bit to futuristic, I fully understand you. But think of it as a better Anvil.
