Hello folks!!! I'm bringing you this blog about Mexican Revolution, first we're talking about Porfirio Diaz.

Porfirio Diaz was a mexican dictator that stayed as president of Mexico for 30 years, during this age he made Mexico beautiful and improved economy, and he also industrialized Mexico, but the problem is that he also caused a huge social injustice and poorness where only people near to him enjoyed this benefits I mentioned before.

His goverment got weak after protests in Cananea and Rio Blanco, but also because the great economic crisis in New York in 1908, after this, the Mexican Revolution started in November 20th, 1910.

The first Revolutionary who took the power was Francisco I. Madero, he had some ideas about giving farms and lands again to the farmers and workers.

The Revolution started after Porfirio Diaz order to kill Aquiles Serdan's family (including Aquiles) was successful, this provoked the anger that finally started this war.

Other important people were 2 brothers who their last names were Flores Magon, they wrote some ideals that some people think are socialist ideas, others say they are anarchist ideas, and yeah, their ideals were about something similar to anarcho-communist, due to this ideas and the ideas of other Revolutionaries, so many countries considered Mexico as the first socialist country in the world, even before Russian Revolution, but Mexico was not exactly socialist, so many of those ideas were socialist ideas, but the goverments didn't have a socialist system.

Francisco I. Madero entered on June 7th, 1911 to Mexico City the same day when a great earthquake hit Mexico, Porfirio Diaz was defeated and got exiliated to Paris in 1911, Porfirio Diaz died in 1915 in Paris and his tomb is still there.

Francisco I. Madero got corrupted by power, so this started the war again and here's when Emiliano Zapata Salazar enters to the conflict, he had also ideals about giving back the lands to the people, but he also had a great idea to end problems about multi-ethnic States, his idea was to create self-goverments in rural towns aislated from cities, those goverments would satisfy those towns' needs, this idea was retaken by a rebel army in Chiapas, Mexico in 1995 and people loved this army who promised them to bring solutions to the hard situation in Chiapas, but that army failed and Chiapas has still those problems. Oh and he got killed, and this caused a great sadness for his followers.

Keeping with the Revolution, after all this fight, Venustiano Carranza (who I am related to) joined to the fight and became president like other Revolutionaries. Under his goverment, he helped to write the Mexican Constitution that got published in 1917 and that is the current Constitution in Mexico, he also had troubles with another Revolutionary named Francisco Villa, who attacked Columbus, New Mexico, this triggered the Goverment of the USA, so Venustiano Carranza decided to give them military access to Mexico.

The American army entered 2 times to Mexico during its Revolution, first time in 1914 when they helped one of the Revolutionaries so they invaded Veracruz, and the second time in 1917 when they tried to capture Francisco Villa, but Francisco Villa was never captured because he was too smart for the American army, after that, American army got humilliated and left Mexico.

In 1917, Venustiano Carranza received the Zimmermann telegram from the German Empire, but he didn't accept the request because the Revolution wasn't over and Mexico was too weak. British filtered the telegram and USA joined to WW1 against Central Powers.

Venustiano Carranza also had problems with Benjamin Argumedo, Argumedo was killed by orders of Carranza. Fun fact: In secondary I had a classmate who was related to that Benjamin Argumedo guy XD, we just ignored what our relatives did.

Venustiano Carranza got finally killed by his oppositors and then any Revolutionary survived, the Revolution ended, Mexico was in crisis, the next goverments after Revolution just transformed the Revolution into a useless fight and also started a war against religious people (mainly Catholics and Christians) and then the rest is history...

Now here are some facts about this Revolution:

- As I said before, the Zimmermann telegram made US enter to WW1
- As I also said before, so many countries considered Mexico as the first socialist country in history

Now here are 2 famous doctrines from Mexican Revolution:

- Carranza Doctrine: Establishes that a country can't make an intervention in politic situations from another countries.
- Estrada Doctrine: Establishes that a country shall be recognized according to population's opinion and that doesn't need to be recognized by world powers to be an official country, USA considered Mexico as a non-legitimate country, but Mexico presented this to the Society of Nations and they applied it in international laws, so Venezuelan Revolution started and used this doctrine to get recognized a a legitimate goverment.

Now, here you have a beautiful story between Mexico and Yugoslavia:

Yugoslavia had so many restricted movies, specially Hollywood movies, so they had as a great option the Mexican movies from 1940's-1960's, then there was one of them that was made by a mexican director in 1950's, the movie was about a soldier who was a follower of Zapata during Mexican Revolution, after Zapata's getting murdered, the oppositor of Zapata who ordered to kill Zapata, ordered the execution of this soldier, but then everyone discover that the general that received the order to execute this soldier, was a very close friend of him, so the soldier accepted his destiny and asked to have a great last day before execution, in the movie, there's a scene where the soldier visits the birthday party of the mother of the friend who is going to execute him, and there sings "Las Mañanitas" (The Little Mornings), this is a very famous birthday song in Mexico and is a very happy song, but in this scene, the mother of the friend knows what is going to happen to this soldier, so she starts crying, this scene impacted that much in Yugoslavian cinemas that everyone were crying too and then Las Mañanitas became into a very sad song related to war (or something like that), and even today, it is a very sad and nostalgic song in the countries that were part of Yugoslavia.

Yugoslavia loved Mexico, they adapted a lot of mexican music and liked to dress like mexicans, the diplomatic relations between Mexico and Yugoslavia were very good, in Mexico City there's even a statue of Tito (president of Yugoslavia).

Even there was this Yu-Mex music

If you're interested, the movie's name is "Un día de vida"

The version of the mexican flag shown in this blog is a version established by Venustiano Carranza in 1917.

Happy November 20th!
