One of the most underrated mysteries in Minecraft is the igloos. Without any purpose, it's just there. Though it may seem like a random hunk of snow and a place to get free loot, but once you realize the true purpose, you'll think twice the next time you raid it of resources.

Before we can investigate who built igloos, we first need to examine the igloos. Inside is pretty normal; some carpet, a bed, workbench, oven, and a redstone torch, but there's a chance that underneath the igloo is a secret room. This means whoever built it, wanted to hide things.

Lets look at the loot now. We find food (Which probably means the person was hiding down there for a long time, so he/she needed food), tools (Sometimes an axe), and a golden apple. We also find a cauldron, and a brewing stand with a weakness potion. Finally, at the back wall, there's two cages, both with a Villager each. One zombified, and a priest (Which I'm pretty sure are really rare).

So what does all of this information mean? Well, I had three main mobs I thought could've been the builder.

3. The Husk
The Husk is a mob that is very poorly treated, and has a disease as I theorized a while back. It would make sense for the husk to build a shelter, but one thing debunks this. The Husk was added in 1.10, while the igloo was added in 1.9.

2. Iron Golem
Iron Golems resemble Villagers, and protect them. But this one has a big lack of evidence, plus it doesn't explain why it'd have two Villagers and the set up.

And finally, the mob that made the igloo...

1. The Witch (Dun dun DUN)
Sure, it may seem silly at first, but lets look at the igloo again. It contains a cauldron, brewing stand, and a potion, so the mob must've been skilled at alchemy, which is something the Witch definitely has. But, why does the Witch have two Villagers, one zombified and one not? Well, for all the people who haven't connected to dots yet, a weakness potion and a golden apple are found within the structure. When you splash a zombie Villager with weakness, when give it a golden apple, it'll turn into a regular Villager! Why is this important? Well, look at the Witch. The Witch is much smarter then Villagers. It can't stand having the Villagers being turned to Zombies. So the Witch had two cells, which holds a Villager, so the Witch knew what it was trying to make, and a Zombie Villager, who was the one it was going to heal. It likely saw you, the player, coming, and ran, in the hopes that you'll heal the poor Zombie Villager.

If you still aren't convinced, don't worry, I wasn't either at first. But lets stop comparing the igloo to the Witch, and compare it to something that compares to the Witch (Does that make sense? Lol.). The Witch Hut (Obviously) is home to the Witch. It holds a cauldron, and a flower pot, with a crafting table. What else holds these three things? That's right! The igloo!
