The title says it, I think we should get rid of the experience system here on PMC. "But why?" do you ask? I am sure you are all aware of the declining state of PMC (There are far too many blogs posting that info over and over again). I have realized these can all go away by removing the experience system (diamonds included).

How does it help?

Removes Poor Content: New and old members alike post poor content in hopes to get a few more views and therefore more experience. Without the experience incentive, members will be far less likely to post poor content.

Less Useless Updates: We all know the trick of changing a small thing or two and updating your project just so it gets thrown back into people's attentions. This can be drastically reduced if there is no experience reward.

No Diamond for Diamond: Can't do this if there are no diamonds.

More Quality Work: People will now be trying to get you to subscribe (Explained later), and if they are to succeed, they will have to put a lot more effort into their work.

Noob Friendly: Gives those new to PMC a chance to shine, they won't be intimidated or overshadowed by high leveled members.

Removing experience creates a problem however. How do we find the members whose content is worth looking at? And how do we show our appreciation? I have a solution for that. Players should instead be ranked based upon subscriptions. Subscriptions are given out less frequently and only to those who we would truly like to see more content from. Also for those who do "sub for sub", the subs cancel out and do not count towards rank, although the sub still exists. If you currently have a high rank, don't worry it should be transferred over to the new system.

Views, favorites, and subs would still exist, just no xp or diamonds.

Discuss in the comments, I would like to hear you guys' opinions.

Edit: There are concerns that there wouldn't be enough incentive to posting content. I believe that wanting to share your work, and the hope of getting onto the pop reel is enough incentive. Sharing and seeing other's work is the whole point of this site, let us try and restore that.

Most of it is a pretty good explanation because new members wont despair and be more confident but if it should be removed then PlanetMinecraft will never be the same or in other terms the experience system
in the website makes it stand out from others and sometimes motivates people to post something.

I suppose PMC just isn't really going in the direction I wish it would. I'm here for the appreciation of art, but I guess a lot of others get their kicks from seing their level go up. They can't please everyone.

I like only half of this, I think they should keep diamonds but forget about the XP because diamonds should be how much people likes your post, in other words I think diamonds should not be what levels you up : just subs

It might work with the diamonds still in the system, I just don't know if that would then become too large an incentive, which might go against what this system tries to accomplish.

The problem I see with this is if there Is no xp people may not bother with posting anything without the feeling of accomplishment. And some people don't sub much or not at all.

If subbing were the only way to show appreciation, there would be far more subs. And the incentive is to share your work with others, which really is the point of the site, not to gain xp

I agree with CodyP123456, when you level up you feel like you are in a higher level and believe a whole lot of PMC members find it a challenge to level up and how? By putting up more submissions, its sorta like a competition to level up in a way, which make people more active.

The reason for this is that everyone wants the "golden star" saying they want some reward for what they have done. If you post something you feel you've worked on alot, you want something to show what the have gotten

It's a great idea, but how many subscribers would you need to level up?
