The title says it, I think we should get rid of the experience system here on PMC. "But why?" do you ask? I am sure you are all aware of the declining state of PMC (There are far too many blogs posting that info over and over again). I have realized these can all go away by removing the experience system (diamonds included).
How does it help?
Removes Poor Content: New and old members alike post poor content in hopes to get a few more views and therefore more experience. Without the experience incentive, members will be far less likely to post poor content.
Less Useless Updates: We all know the trick of changing a small thing or two and updating your project just so it gets thrown back into people's attentions. This can be drastically reduced if there is no experience reward.
No Diamond for Diamond: Can't do this if there are no diamonds.
More Quality Work: People will now be trying to get you to subscribe (Explained later), and if they are to succeed, they will have to put a lot more effort into their work.
Noob Friendly: Gives those new to PMC a chance to shine, they won't be intimidated or overshadowed by high leveled members.
Removing experience creates a problem however. How do we find the members whose content is worth looking at? And how do we show our appreciation? I have a solution for that. Players should instead be ranked based upon subscriptions. Subscriptions are given out less frequently and only to those who we would truly like to see more content from. Also for those who do "sub for sub", the subs cancel out and do not count towards rank, although the sub still exists. If you currently have a high rank, don't worry it should be transferred over to the new system.
Views, favorites, and subs would still exist, just no xp or diamonds.
Discuss in the comments, I would like to hear you guys' opinions.
Edit: There are concerns that there wouldn't be enough incentive to posting content. I believe that wanting to share your work, and the hope of getting onto the pop reel is enough incentive. Sharing and seeing other's work is the whole point of this site, let us try and restore that.
