You started a new world. You need to build a house, but what type? Underground? A typical wooden shack? Saving up items to make a mansion? There are multiple components to this.

Component #1: What Difficulty?

Difficulty matters alot. If you are on Peaceful for example, you might want to save up your items for a mansion. But, if the difficulty is hard, or you are playing hardcore, you might want to take a different approach. You might want to build an underground house, which i would suggest. Or you could build a wooden shack. Either way, you're much safer. On Easy, you can go either way. Normal is the same way.

Component #2: Energy and Time

Many of us have a laziness problem, and thats fine. If your lazy, you might want to build a simple shack, or a hole in the ground (The hole in the ground one I really don't advise). If you aren't lazy, you might build a mansion or a detailed home underground or in a mountain (Which i do advise). Also, if you have minecraft limmits because your not in college yet, you might want to build something much less time consuming. Now, if you have all the time in the world to play minecraft, then you can build crazy mansions. Or you can just be lazy with your time and build a shack.

Component #3: What Suits You Best?

This is the most important component. Personally? I like making houses underground/in mountains, because then I can mine without leaving my house. If you want to build a shack or a mansion, thats fine by me, and I do them both. Just not as typically. If you just have fun with building it, and at least plan it out a little bit, then whatever house you build will be perfectly fine.

I hope that helped you see what you want to build you next house as. If you liked it, don't be afraid to diamond!
