Hello!
Many people love PVP but just can't seem to win any PVP games [Factions, CTF, Hunger Games etc.]. Well today folks I am here to give you the points that you will need to win any PVP match.
What To Do In Game
Well firstly, if you are the strongest man on the battlefield, attack enemies one by one. Don't try to run into a massive pack of sword swinging because it could be fatal no matter how much armour you have. If you prefer archery, then high vantage points over your opponent would be a good option. Also keep your distance, bows aren't made for close combat.
How To Escape
Escaping can be one of the hardest things that you will have to do in PVP games. If you are being hunted down by somebody with full diamond armour or something like that, RUN! Run as far as you can and try to find another person to distract the chaser. If you are the only two, there isn't much I can say to beating someone with much better stuff than you. Probably best to get to higher ground so you can have an advantage over them height wise.
How To Fail
Failing in PVP can happen at any point. People thinking they're unstoppable and running into packs, people trying to do parkour mid game, people thinking they are stronger than lava, I think you get the message. If you are one of the strongest on the battlefield, don't get carried away. If you are trying to attack someone but they just run don't follow them forever or you will lose hunger and hearts eventually.
How To 1 vs 1
1 vs 1 can be hard even if you are the stronger player. The best advice is too try and be sneaky and get the first few hits on them before going into a full brawl. Make sure that if the have stronger weapons but weaker armour, capitalise on the by trying to get them to defend and have to run. If they have strong armour but weak weapons, attack is again the best option but be careful because they will last a while.
Tips To Archery
Many think that they have the gift of archery in minecraft because they get 3-4 lucky shots in game and miss about 20. If you are a new archer, the best tips would be to get vantage points and a distance as explained previously. Make sure you capitalise on every shot and make them all count. If you are experienced and can capitalise on most of your shots, then do exactly that.
Tips To Scavenging [HG especially]
If you have got pathetic and useless items from chests, you have to keep looking until you get a weapon. Never put your armour on without a weapon. Many think this is stupid but if the attacker thinks you have nothing, then they have less chance of wanting to attack. If you do scavenge always keep moving until you get all you need [Weapons, food and armour].
Lag
In all types of PVP games, lag is your worst enemy. If you have lag, you cannot get the position that your opponent is in at that point because it keeps freezing. Make sure you have good internet connection when doing any PVP game. Lethaos_13 Inspired

tactics are good, but if you have a bad connection, you are dead
another tip more in game tactic related: do not use knockback swords except if you want to push somebody in the lava or in the void
