This is a way to make a SUPER compact machine that sends power rapidly. I accidentally figured this out, but I'm sure others have beat me too it. I hope this will help you guys in whatever you're building!
                                               
NOTE: make sure the Redstone comparator torch is on. Failure to do so will result in, well, fail.
