I'd lived in the wilderness since I left my mother and father. We weren't on speaking terms, unless shrieking and wailing are counted as speaking. My father would go to town, use all of our wheat from to trade for golden apples, and come home as if nothing ever happened. He was addicted, a full health bar was all he strived for. My mother had sunk so far into herself that she wasn't even a shell of a being anymore, father's abuse, my scarcity about the house, debt. Nobody thought it was safe there, especially me. So I left, I took the old man's bow and arrows, and one of his leather tunics. Ran and never looked back.
After weeks of just wandering amongst the trees I decided I had traveled far enough, I began the gathering of material for my new home. I started as every other crafter starts, a table. That table stayed with me forever it seemed like. I crafted my first pick, wooden of course, and quickly gather the stone for my new axe. I hated going under the ground, I had heard too many stories of miners dying at work, kids falling into open holes, and the worst of all... when things came out of the holes. I couldn't stand being sub-ground, so I stuck to plain stone tools. My residence went underway without a hitch, quick, clean, and careful.
There I spent my adolescent, and adult life. I would've stayed there, if not for curiosity. One day, while sitting on my roof, looking out into the untamed forest, I saw a blue speck. I thought nothing of it, maybe I was just seeing things, maybe I should go to bed, it was getting a little late. As I climbed down, I couldn't help but look again. I knew it was something of interest, but I was in denial. I couldn't let myself stray as far as six trees from my abode, and the speck was 3 hills away! I contemplated just going inside, having some cake, and slipping into a deep slumber, but then the speck moved. I knew I had to go now.
I went inside, quickly gathered my father's old bow equipment, my leaver suit, and a map. After a quick meal of pork and melon, I was off. I had to be quick, night was approaching swift as a massive black crows over the world around me, darkness inundating my every fiber. I sprinted toward the blue, I could see it now, through the trees. I slowed as I approached, it was a sheep! A blue sheep! I had to bring it home, I started thinking of how I could coax it towards home, maybe a bunch of grass in my hands would convince it! I drew nearer, quietly, calmly, and cool, but everything instantly turned south. A wolf charged from behind a tree next to the sheep, the poor animal tried to flee, but the ruthless hunter took it's prey easily. The sheep had no chance.
Then the wolf turned to me, it's red eyes glowing with lust for food, or was it something else? I shook with fear, unable to use my weapon, I ran. I ran away from my attacker, closely in line behind me. The whole world seemed to stir, upset by this abrupt end to the peaceful night, I thought I was soon to be met by the cold claws of death. I came to a cliff, rock jutting from the land, no way around. The wolf came barreling towards me, I had to make a decision, I looked for an opening in the mighty crag, I found it. I dove for the crack in the mountain, scrambling into my greatest fear. I still wasn't safe, the wolf, much larger than I, tried squeezing through the aperture from whence I entered. All his efforts in vain, he slunk away. Leaving me in the cold, dank, gloominess of the cave.
I had a couple sticks and my pick on my from before my expedition, I searched for some coal to make torches, feeling the walls and tiers of my latest situation. I found what felt like the fuel to my salvation and started excavating it, putting the product of my efforts on the end of one of the sticks gave me glorious light. My spirits lifted until I saw the shards of my pick on the rough floor of the cave. I had but one stick left, and no way to return from the small hole I shimmied through earlier. I was, quite literally, caught between a rock and a hard place. I tried to sleep, but with only the one tuft of wool from that unforgiven sheep, and no wood, I had no bed. I was petrified at the sight of nothingness beyond my torchlight, just thinking of what might be lurking in the infinitesimal shadows of the underbelly of the world knocked me over in fear. I sat, head spinning, on the stone. There I dozed off, into a short, nightmarish sleep.
I woke to the light of day, teasing me with it's warmth and ability to fit through the cracks. I had to find a way out, there must be another end to these wormlike tunnels in the land. I gathered my supplies and wits, and started down the hole. My first obstacle, was a small walk across a thin strip of rock that seemed to lay across a deep fissure. I knew one slip up would end me. Step by minimal step, I inched across the bridge. Once to the other side I looked forward at a wall of the murky blank void daylight could not reach. I placed a torch to reveal a fork in my path, one leading to a slight incline, and one being a dead drop.

CHAPTER 2

In these situations where a decision must be made, but I know nothing of the repercussions of either choice, I use a simple and effective strategy. I flipped a coin, much less a coin and more a rock with a greenish tint on one side that the other didn't. The almighty deciding rock, which I keep with me to this day, told me to go down. I tried to convince myself that it was the wrong choice, but the rock said so. Down the steep edges I slid, narrowly avoiding sheer doom at the base of a stalagmite. Once at the bottom of the incline I began to look around, there was light coming from a tunnel to my right. This eerie yellow glow was a sure sign of where I wanted to be, darkness is the enemy. I swept up my courage and headed toward the light. I felt myself getting lighter, as if I was being lifted off the ground without actually ascending. My body was gliding over the rocky floor of the cave, smooth and blurry. When I reached the origin of the light I fall with an emotional thud. The light was coming from a pillar of lava stemming from the wall of a crevasse, the tall ceiling towering above me, and the narrow passage with which it devoured me. The Deciding rock made another important chice that would ultimately alter my outcome, right or left? As I watched the rock fly up in the air I noticed another light, emitting from a ledge on the wall of the tear in the world. Luckily the stone pointed me in the direction of the light, allowing me to further explore.
It was a short walk over to where the light would be if it were a chunk lower. I used some gravel I grabbed on my adventure to build a tower up to the ledge. One block too short. I couldn't see the light and I couldn't drop down, the fall would kill me for sure. I had to break the space between me and this ledge, it was going to be painful. I started punching the wall of stone before me, cracking it more and more with every blow. My fist beating into the jagged rock penetrated my flesh, but I pressed on. Hitting it more and more, nearing total destruction for both my hand and the block. I couldn't give in first, this was my obstacle. I will overcome it.
Crack, and it was over. I jumped up on the flat space I aimed for and lie down to nurse my fist. The sight was gruesome, skin stripped to the bone on one knuckle, shards of earth grotesquely positioned about my fingers. It was bloody, but I had found a comforting scene. The light came from a torch in an abandoned mine! I got up after wrapping my injured appendage with a strip of cloth from my undershirt to investigate the mine. The first thing I notice is the abundance iron ore, what I would give to have a pick right then. The opportunity was presenting itself within spitting distance, but I was completely unable to obtain it. That feeling carries, I was so close to death a day ago, and I was so close to salvation soon after. Now once again I turned to the rock, I had a question for it. What should happen to me if I choose to stay in the mine? Would I have greater gain by leaving? Green for the move, blank to stay.
"Do your stuff, rock."
Almost immediately after the toss I felt a strong impact on my shoulder, followed by a sharp hiss and stab of pain.

CHAPTER 3

My head felt like a balloon, inflating slowly while my back pulsed with pain. My unknown attacker fell upon me once more, the balloon popped and inflated again before deflating repeatedly. I turned see what kept hitting me while my body throbbed with pain. The eye flew towards me, all of time stopped for what seemed like an hour. I thought quickly and clumsily. If I ran then it would follow me, it looked faster and it could definitely jump. If I stayed and fought with my bare hands, I would die for sure. Time was up, the eyes flew at me. I dove to the right, nearly taking a massive blow to the head. Scrambling over the stone floor to return to my footing I grabbed the decision rock and fired it at the meanie mobs head. The rock connecting to it on the upper left region of it's head sent it staggering backwards a ravine in the darkness. I had to act fast, a sprinted toward the spider and kicked it off the edge with all I had in me.
The fall was fatal. I heard the impact of the spider's exoskeleton far from my position, crunch. I was still in deep pain, beating in my ears. My shoulder was wounded, my hand completely disabled, and I was poisoned. Poison. Perfect situation for being underground. I stumbled toward a light I saw out of the corner of my eye, I felt myself becoming short of breath. The sight was blurring, but I could still see the point of dimming light. After the first minute of disoriented walking toward the light, my legs started feeling light. I couldn't believe I had made it to an abandoned mine, next to the light that was now clearly a torch I found a chest. Soon after, my legs gave out entirely. Merely feet from the chest I started crawling closer as my arms numbed. I climbed up to the latch on the container to unset it when my eyes drifted closed and I fell to the ground.
