Server Types:
Lets start with the basic types of server,
We got Creative, Survival, Factions, PVP, and unique PVP servers like capture the flag, hunger games, walls, and team fortress just to name a few.

Survival/PVP Server Unoriginality
Oye as Greytopher pointed out HUNGER GAMES. The Hunger games spur was started shortly after the movie, some guy made a simple plugin and a server and Vareide shortly after made his iconic map. From the day after the movie came out, it was like zombies eating.. EVERYONE HAD TO HAVE A PIECE OF IT. Everyone made their own server whether it was to make $ or for their friends and entertainment. Some people branched off that and made their server more unique by combining the awesome concept with something else. MCPVP has a kit system so you can choose a kit before you play to make the gameplay a little more unpredictable and erratic. Still though... BORING they are all in the same category and are way over used in my opinion. They are fun but when EVERYONE uses it, there is no originality everyone copy cats and piggy backs from other people in some form.

Escape The Room Server Unoriginality
About 1 month ago another spur started with the Escape the "" servers and maps. One guy made a map and got like 300 diamonds from it. People thought it was a cool idea and that it was challenging so they used the maps along with iconomy plugins to make a full-fledged server. They are all in my opinion so boring. I tried the first map and the nostalgia was great because you had to escape the room in under a time or TNT would blow you up. Kind of like survival fusion. OH THE HUMANITY then hundreds of people swarmed like the hunger games to make their own server.

I know over 400 Servers between 20slot and 3000 and 90% have Hungergames. *same maps same game
every time .

Whats unoriginal is being a "hipster" who hates anything becoming widespread, I know widespread things get annoying at times, but they became popular for a reason.
