Small Scale Building Tips

Okay, so I don't think it's really a secret that Minecraft blocks are big and chucky and hard to make small scale buildings look good. I've struggled with this A LOT, but I think I'm getting a little bit better of a grasp on the whole concept, so I wanted to make a blog about what I try to do when I make smaller things. :P



Detail is key - Just because you have a smaller building doesn't mean you can't still have details!

• Use item frames, levers, buttons, and other small items to add detail where detail is necesarry.
  
• Use fences, iron bars and cobblestone walls to give cubey buildings more depth.
  
• Use decorative heads to add really small and detailed objects into your space. (Click here for a list of 500+ heads!)
  
  
• Paintings, banners, and items in item frames are all good to use to add some color!
  
• Torches are small, but really boring. You can do that cool item frame thingy with the torch and the item frame and the anvil I have no idea how to describe it very well lol.
  
  
• Of course, always remember to use lots of stairs and slabs!
  
  

Save Space - compact everything possible!

• Use half slabs for the floor, so you have a little room for your head.
  
• Place things like beds, crafting tables, etc. in the floor so everything feels more open and spacious.
  
• Using full glass panes for windows is kind of ugly in small houses. Place one right-side-up stair with an upside-down stair on top of it to create a small, but still functional, window.
