If you've been on PMC before, you've probably seen a texture pack or mod posted on here that looks very "shady": The first image has nothing to do with the topic, the post has a very short and uninformative description with horrible spelling and grammar, but the texture pack/mod looks fantastic. This is a prime case of stealing, and must be reported. I see these kind of texture packs and mods once in a while, though it's much more common in the Texture Packs site.

Now for lazily done Texture Packs. You've all seen it: the first (and sometimes only) image is a cool picture obviously taken from Google images or done with MS Paint in 5 minutes, the description says something along the lines of "This is my first pack/mod, please give me a diamond and favorite if you like it!" (with worse spelling and grammar). You then download the pack to see if actual effort was put into it, and it turns out to be filled with ugly and bland textures done with MS Paint, and sometimes the vanilla textures are still in there.

Mods are much easier to spot if they're lazily done. The mod only adds new tools and armor and food (which I can create in 15 minutes with actual code). The presentation is very similar to the lazy texture packs, but the one thing that gives it away are the file names. Download the mod. If the all of the mod classes are previewed with "mcreator_", then the mod was created with the program MCreator. These mods are considered spam, since they take absolutely no effort and knowledge to make.

These things are ruining Planet Minecraft and ruining it's image to the rest of the Minecraft community. We want to create content that other people will like and have fun with, not garbage that will be reported, removed, and end up with the idiots whining and complaining to the moderators. The rest of the Minecraft community doesn't take PMC seriously for reasons such as this, and we must take action. Spread the word, report the idiots!

Thanks for reading.

When you type in MCreator on PMC you get very fine mods made in MCreator. Stop saying it's a spam!

Unless it adds almost nothing (like, just a pink-red wool).

I've seen 2 or 3 mods like these... I remember somebody putting the Custom NPCs mod here, called "The people mod". That doesn't even make sense!

Well, yes, but what I'm talking about is people who plagerize popular texture packs that are licensed.

I highly agree with the plagiarism issue. It ultimately shows a lack of respect to the person who made the original work/takes the time to learn how to manipulate the game either in code or content.

I can understand if someone wants to build their skills using something like google images for themselves, but if you publish something, you should do so only if it is wholly your own. I usually don't have issue with people using something as reference. But that is different than copying.

And here I go a rambling... anywho, I'm glad there's at least people getting the idea about this and taking initiative. Best of luck to ya! Hope you change some minds and help make effort = value.
