In PVP, there are strategies that you can use. It isn't just a bunch of a whacking, slicing and hitting randomly in different places. There are different kinds of methods that you can use to widen the possibility of winning a PVP battle. For example:

1. Get yourself into a PVP battle.
2. Run forward toward your opponent.
3. Run right through his body.
4. Then turn around quickly before he can hit you.
5. Then rapidly bring down whatever kind of weapon onto his back.
This will probably not work if your opponent turns around and hits you before you can hit him rapidly in the back. Also, it would be a good idea to not hit your opponent when he is attacking you; hit your opponent when he is not hitting you. A lot of the time this happens, but you have to be quick and hit your opponent a bunch of times before they get a chance to retaliate. For example:
1. You get yourself into a PVP battle.
2. Your opponent is slicing his or her weapon at you.
3. Run out of the way before he can hurt you.
4. While your running out of the way from his attacks, rapidly bring down your tool onto him.
I always use these techniques in PVP. It might be hard to use these if your not quick, a PVPer, have a desire to fight and be a quick clicker. A way to get a bunch of hits on your opponent, without him flying back (if you have Knockback) and without him running away is:
1. Get yourself into a PVP match.
2. Run away from your opponent.
3. Try to find a small hole or make one yourself with your pickaxe.
4. Your opponent drops into the hole.
5. Before your opponent can attack you, quickly clog up the top of the hole with some blocks/block.
6. Rapidly attack your opponent.
Your opponent will also attack rapidly but this way will keep both of you from flying back or running away. This way doesn't always benefit you. I've used this a bunch of times and I've died sometimes. If you didn't get the 5th step in which you clog up the top of the hole you made with a block, then I'll tell you why it would be a good idea that you do this. When you rapidly attack your opponent, he starts to go flying up toward the top and he could get thrown out of the hole. You can probably use these good PVP moves if there isn't more than one guy attacking you at the same time. If there is two guys fighting you, try and give them a turn to get hit or killed with your sword. If you have Knockback, then let one of the guys go flying out of the way and then kill the other. When the other guy comes over to you, kill him as well. If they're both attacking you at the same time, it might lower your chances of winning and not dying. A another good way to win is to make your opponent afraid of you. For example:

1. You get yourself into battle.
2. Your opponent is wearing plain Diamond armor but you have god armor.
3. Your opponent feels scared because of the armor your wearing.
4. If he's scared, his PVP strategies might be off a notch, giving you the chance to kill him with your own techniques.
You don't HAVE to wear god stuff but if you have enchanted armor on like Protection I stuff, your opponent might think your still wearing god. Another way to give yourself the advantage is to not let your opponent hurt you at all. This only works if your fighting in a Factions/Raiding server:

1. Claim a random area with your faction.
2. Dig a hole into the ground in your claimed area.
3. Teleport a player in a Neutraled faction to yours.
4. He cannot attack you but you can attack him.
This is not a fair way to fight but it sure will give you a very good advantage. The thing you need to win a PVP match is using these sort of strategies and be quick, have a good PVP talent, a fast clicker and a strong desire to fight.
