Hi guys, Greytopher here with (obviously) another blog, coming straight at ya. In this installment of my 43rd blog, I will talk about teamwork, in relation to Minecraft and PMC of course, of how you're not alone in what you do. No matter what you do, to overcome something, you don't have to do it alone. It's a team effort. Let's begin, shall we?
*I also want to notify everyone that in a month or so notice, I will be starting on writing my first novel (over 60 pages, which is the minimum for my school assignment). I aim for a hundred pages or more, so let me know in the comments if you guys want to eventually see the outcome of it. It will be about the Italian Renaissance (1504) during the Borgia political drama.*
A Team of One?
As long as you may think, there's no 'i' in 'team'. Literally, look at it. THERE'S PHYSICALLY NO 'I'. But, to the main point, you don't need to do things yourself. Doing things yourself can be good in times. Sometimes, but not all. In most cases, people need the help of one another to get along through the day, to talk about their home life, what's struggling them or what they're happy about.
When someone is alone, maybe it's by choice. They could be that kind of person who perfers to keep to themselves, rather than be in the middle of a cat fight between two girls over a boy. The reality is: there are different types of people wanting to do different types of things. But, in the case that I'm talking about, some people need an extra hand, or a careful ear to help them get through their lives.
If you're building a major Minecraft creation by yourself, sometimes you can feel a bit overwhelmed. I, being a builder before I ever was a writer, know that feeling all too well. You feel like you can't complete it, and it's too much for one person to finish soon. The bad thing about this situation is: sometimes, you can get a little scared to ask for help, or more so, who to ask. I think the real question is: what are friends for? They are there for you when you need it, and by polietly asking, you could get help on your Minecraft creation.
Too Afraid to Ask For Help?
Sometimes, we're all a little afraid to ask for help. Maybe the person we're asking is a scary realitive or a friend. Maybe the person we're asking teases you and makes fun of you a lot. Or maybe, you're just too shy, or afraid you'll be embarrassed when you ask. All of these things are completely normal, and you shouldn't worry about these variables.
Let me let you in on a little story of mine: I, to this day, am still afraid to ask for help. I'm not embarrassed to say it, and I'm not proud that I have not grown up to get around my own social status that stops me from asking others. As long as I can remember, I've had a problem for asking for help. I've been too nervous to do anything, and that's why at a young age, I wasn't very good at what I did. School, to be percise, was hard since I never asked the teacher for questions. I always just sat there, staring at my paper, not knowing what to do.
To this day, I build Minecraft creations. I ask myself: should I get help? Nah, I can do this on my own since I'm a good builder that needs noone! I can never finish a build that I start now, since I'm afraid to ask for others help. I give up good land since I take it all, then spam it with these unfinished buildings. The only thing that I can seem to complete is blogs, and that's only because it takes me little time to write them. If it's a long term project, sorry bro, don't count on me for those.
But, I don't want you to get discouraged of what I do. I want you guys to ask for their help when killing creepers, or to ask for their help when you're about to battle another faction. The point is: you don't have to do things alone. Someone will always be there, willing to help you by your side. Don't take it on yourself, it can sometimes be a bad idea.
Giving Up on Projects...
As you probably know (and my brother, Goodman415 knows this all too well...), I can't really finish a Minecraft project anymore. To be honest, it's because I've got noone to work with. I want to do things by myself because I'm a control freak when it comes to making things, so I'm self conscious with who I work with. Either way, I don't allow myself to have anyone work with me, and with that, I'm stuck with what I got: myself.
That's EXACTLY what you don't want to do. You don't want to exclude yourself from others, when you obviously need them. If you don't use the resources around you, you will end up like what my projects are: old and forgotten. For me, I loose inspiration fast. I need to complete something while I still have the idea in my head. I can never do projects at months at a time.
But, that shouldn't shape you into the same habits that I do. If you make a project, decide quickly: should I ask my friends to help too? Maybe they want to help. Maybe, even if they're not good builders, it'd make their day to help you build your creation. In a way, you're helping yourself while your helping others. Who knows who you're helping, maybe it's your little brother, or a ultimate fan boy. Whatever you do, you're not alone.
