in minecraft 1.2 there should be a thirst meater so when you enter a desert biome it will change your hunger meter to a thirst meater and if you don't drink from a cup like wood cup's.etc.you will slowly thirst to death.
cup restores 3 thirst and a buket restores 5 thirst and a bottle restores 4 thirst potion's also restore as much as a bottle.
