Greetings PMC!

Wolfren here again, with another useless and probably unoriginal blog.

Thumb Frames.

We all know them. YouTube and the blog section here are common places we see them. Some are good and some are...well...not good. It's important to have a good one and I'll explain why.

Looking at the blogs sections, I see lots of praise on the blogs with well-made thumbs. And I don't often see a thumb-less blog on the pop-reel. Only when the blog is exceptionally good without a thumb or it was slim pickings for blogs that day. Anyway, a good thumb frame will attract attention to your blog/video. You want attention on those things. Attention often is equal to views. A bad thumb frame will put off most people because they would likely assume that if the thumb (or lack thereof) is bad, then the blog is also likely bad. I myself am one of those people. If I see a well-made thumb, then I naturally assume that the blog had some work put into it as well.

You can make thumbs with many sources. You can make drawings, or if you can't draw you might try doing renders, and if that doesn't work, get a picture of Google Images and photoshop some fancy text onto it as a last resort. But don't, just don't get your thumb from novaskin.me. That just looks incredibly lazy and will put off readers/viewers just as much as a bad thumb.

I personally use the latest demo of Mine-Imator to do my skin render, find a background, blur it, add on my skin as a layer, then go to textcraft.net to get the words and add them as a final layer. I then export the complete thumb frame, write the blog, and upload the thumb and then finally release the blog. (However this attention to thumb frames only began on this blog.)

Well, I hope that was helpful! Please leave diamonds if it's deserved, comments for feedback, and anything else you think this blog deserves!

Wolfren out!
