The internet today is a wonderful and terrible place to be. There are MANY things I can list out but in this blog I will be focusing on one thing and that is websites stealing content from other websites.
PlanetMinecraft is a wonderful site to share your submissions so many other people can see them. Sometimes this is good and sometimes this is terrible. It's terrible because other websites can take advantage of download links and re-post that project on their site. That is completely unfair. Websites mainly do this to get known. The more content they have, and the more better it is, the more they will get known. However, stealing great content will NOT get you known. It will do its work for about a week at most but then someone from the original site with the original work WILL find your site and you WILL get in trouble.
Why Is PlanetMinecraft Such A Great Target?
PlanetMinecraft is a wonderful target because we have over 100,000 members which means MANY submissions uploaded per day. More submissions means more website owners get attracted here to steal that content and put it on their site to say it's rightfully theirs. This does show that PlanetMinecraft is indeed quite popular, however this type of popular when people steal content is not good at all.
What Can We Do To Stop This?
We as a team can easily stop this. Yes, easily. The main thing we can do, is message the website owner telling them to remove the stolen content or they will indeed get in trouble. Owner's will get scared and will do anything to keep their website's alive so they will follow instructions. We can also report this to Cyprezz and the Moderators so they know what is going on and they can also do something about it. We outnumber the owner and he wouldn't stand a chance against very angry site fans.
How Can I Find Out If A Website Is Stealing Our Content Or Not?
The main ways to find out if a website is indeed stealing our content is this:
1. Look up the content on PMC. If it matches, and has an earlier date of when it was posted, then that means the site is stealing from us.
2. Look at the pictures of the submission. If they match the one on PMC, then it's a dead giveaway.
3. Look how many times and how often websites post submissions on Minecraft
These few ways can easily lead to a website stealing content from us and these are all dead giveaways. If you ever see any of these, don't hesitate to report to Cyprezz and politely contact the website owner and tell him/her to take out the stolen submissions.
Together we outnumber those stealing thieves! If we work hard in stopping this then I'm sure there will be no more thieves like these left in the Minecraft community!

But there is nothing Planet Minecraft can, or should do about other websites stealing screenshots from this website, especially if they are made by the websites users, not the website's owners themselves.
I like the fact that you're against people stealing, and trust me, I am too. But on top of playing the Devil's Advocate here, it's kind of hard to find a real way to stop this. Just my opinion though. Good blog anyway.
I haven't actually seen any of my content on other sites, but It's probably out there. Taking other's work without credit is a form of piracy and must be stopped.
