What Have Server Communities Turned Into?

Nowadays, we don't see kind, respectful, and loving communities. We don't see vanilla, peaceful and enjoyable servers. But nowadays we see grief, raid, survival/hunger games, intense pvp factions, one in the chamber, we don't see ANYTHING unique.
There is basically no such thing as a unique server out there anymore. All servers have one thing in common - PVP.
When ever I go to find myself a good, unique server, all that comes up is; PVP, HARDCORE FACTIONS, RAID, HUNGER GAMES. Just come on - sure those games are enjoyable, but after playing them a million times they get boring, yet people continue making these servers.

Back in the day, when the game was actually fun, there weren't 15 year olds treating 10 year olds like a rag doll, no hackers, no intense, unoriginal minecraft servers.
All server back in the day, were mainly vanilla, or close to vanilla - maybe just a few plugins, but those plugins didn't effect the gameplay that much. When playing on a server, we actually had fun, because there weren't 300 people on one server at once spamming the server, nor were they spawn killing all players on sight with full enchanted diamond armour.
Servers back then had small communities, and thats what I loved. They would mainly hang around 10-25 people on at once, and that was good. All the players helped each other, not aimlessly team up and kill them, and then take all their goodies.

Back in the day, if you killed someone, you were most likely to get kicked, but now all we see are admins and staff members flying around blowing up players with TNT. All I want is a kind, loving, small community, with nice people who get along, and all of that stuff - then I may consider coming back to minecraft.
But no - If everyone is going to continue making these servers, I will never come back. The community has to change, because the player rate is rapidly going down.

If you are hosting a pvp, raid etc. server, please take a moment to realise that your server is completely unoriginal. Over a million other people have an identical server to you, so actually make something unique. Like a casual, friendly, non-pvp server. Where players can actually have FUN.

If you want to right now - go to the server list and look at all the banners. You will know what I mean.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I believe that all these pvp, hardcore servers deserve to go, and all the wonderful, loving memories should back to us. This change is easy to make, just that no-one listens. The server communities nowadays are hideous, but back in the beta days, people would treat each others like true friends, and be loyal to one another.

Pvp was always a SIDE feature and people say "oh but it could be a main feature" well no it really is not! Question 1. what intention did notch have when he first created minecraft? what was the intention? it was to place and break blocks! that was the main purpose and it will always be the main purpose. unfortunatly in our days because there is so much of the (HARCORE, RAIDS, PVP, ULTRA, FACTIONS, HUNGERGAMES) people only buy minecraft for the pvp purpose they don't know what the Real purpose is. Sure Pvp is cool now and again but like most people i hear say - "eventually it just gets boring" and i agree with them! and with the new plugin API coming along the Pvp servers are only going to get worse.

I know exactly what you mean TCG. I go onto the server list now, any server list, PMC, mine status, whatever- And all I get are those dumb raid servers. I don't want a ton of people griefing my stuff all the time, I want to have a nice house and be lazy and not have to die hundreds of times and lose my stuff indefinitely. You never see towny anymore. You never see nice servers without violence. All you find is factions. Grief. Hardcore PVP that bans you for dying. Raid. Death on massive scales. Spam, spam, and so much more spam! I know people like those servers but there are too many of them! The reason why there are no towny servers on the list anymore is because there are so many pvp servers that they block you out of them even when you search specifically for towny servers. I constantly look for servers that are completely PvP free but I fail every single time. Stop the pvp. Everyone. Seriously.

One of my 1st server experiences was when someone told me that I could make an anvil (This was early Beta, no anvils), and I took some convincing that 9 blocks of Iron could craft one, and at the time had barely any idea what plugins were, and now I know more about plugins than most.

I sometimes dislike PvP, but I believe it is a very important aspect of the game and should be kept, but just not at such a large scale. Banishing PvP entirely seems like a horrible idea which could cut the player base of Minecraft to a much smaller number.

Many people believe that I'm debating that pvp should be removed. I'm a big fan of pvp. It's my passion and play it most of the time. What I'm saying is that nowadays we don't see original, unique servers, they are all factions, and raid etc. and all of those servers are basically the same.

You are stating that PvP servers must go. Much confused.

I'm stating that the raid, and faction servers deserve to go - well, most of them. Too many.

I do agree with some of this, but peopled game different tastes of servers, some like factions, some like vanilla. Although most servers out there are factions and raiding, there are still lots of vanilla servers. You just have to look deeper, and try harder. Like the PMC server. Still thin. You deserve the diamond though, I really do not like those big minigame or faction servers either, I think the amount of them should be reduced. I prefer to just play mini games and factions on a small server with my friends.
