With the youtube video, please watch it before you read. The video explains are very large point to this blog, and I recommended you watch it. I did not create the video, yet I shall give credit to the video maker.
Nowadays, we don't see kind, respectful, and loving communities. We don't see vanilla, peaceful and enjoyable servers. But nowadays we see grief, raid, survival/hunger games, intense pvp factions, one in the chamber, we don't see ANYTHING unique.
There is basically no such thing as a unique server out there anymore. All servers have one thing in common - PVP.
When ever I go to find myself a good, unique server, all that comes up is; PVP, HARDCORE FACTIONS, RAID, HUNGER GAMES. Just come on - sure those games are enjoyable, but after playing them a million times they get boring, yet people continue making these servers.
Back in the day, when the game was actually fun, there weren't 15 year olds treating 10 year olds like a rag doll, no hackers, no intense, unoriginal minecraft servers.
All server back in the day, were mainly vanilla, or close to vanilla - maybe just a few plugins, but those plugins didn't effect the gameplay that much. When playing on a server, we actually had fun, because there weren't 300 people on one server at once spamming the server, nor were they spawn killing all players on sight with full enchanted diamond armour.
Servers back then had small communities, and thats what I loved. They would mainly hang around 10-25 people on at once, and that was good. All the players helped each other, not aimlessly team up and kill them, and then take all their goodies.
Back in the day, if you killed someone, you were most likely to get kicked, but now all we see are admins and staff members flying around blowing up players with TNT. All I want is a kind, loving, small community, with nice people who get along, and all of that stuff - then I may consider coming back to minecraft.
But no - If everyone is going to continue making these servers, I will never come back. The community has to change, because the player rate is rapidly going down.
If you are hosting a pvp, raid etc. server, please take a moment to realise that your server is completely unoriginal. Over a million other people have an identical server to you, so actually make something unique. Like a casual, friendly, non-pvp server. Where players can actually have FUN.
If you want to right now - go to the server list and look at all the banners. You will know what I mean.
In conclusion, I believe that all these pvp, hardcore servers deserve to go, and all the wonderful, loving memories should back to us. This change is easy to make, just that no-one listens. The server communities nowadays are hideous, but back in the beta days, people would treat each others like true friends, and be loyal to one another.
