This applies to any type of Moderator, may it be forum moderator to server moderator. It's not easy and here's why.
Reason #1
Say goodbye to having fun all the time. Yeah becoming a moderator means you have to moderate. As in moderation comes first, fun comes second. For example, I used to play on a server and I wanted to become a mod. So I applied and got accepted. So I was just building one day then all of a sudden, spammers! So I mute them for 15 minutes. After their mute, they kept spamming. Whatever 30 min mute 1 hour tempban. After their Tban and mute, you guess it, they spammed again. During all this I had to help new players. In all, I got about 2% of the build done. So yeah, don't plan on having fun while being a moderator.
Reason #2
People who protest bans/mutes/kicks, or in the case of forums, locked topics/deleted topics. You have no idea how annoying this is. I understand it isnecessary to fight against accidental bans/locks. I quote from the forum rules "Moderators are human beings and can make mistakes". Truer words have never been said. But then there are the people who think they shouldn't have to follow the rules, or that they didn't break the rules, or you're just over moderating. Seriously people, make sure you were following the rules before you protest anything!
Reason #3
The insults. Yes as a moderator you will have insults thrown at you. It could be as simple as "You suck" to "YOU (Swear word here) YOUR'E A (Swear word here) I'M NEVER COMING BACK. (Swear word here)". These words hurt, here you are just doing what you're supposed to do then all of a sudden, you get a message like the one above.

Which raises the question. What is the hardest part about being a Moderator to you. Could be server mod, forum mod, or even a real life moderator!
Before I close I would like to say one thing. Being a Moderator is like being a police officer. You enforce the rules and a small amount of people hate you for it.
